I never personally have had any restrictions from my parents on any underwear that I wore, but I know some parents take this very seriously and do maintain restrictions on it. But to what age can you really control that? ... and should it be controlled?

For this discussion, thong underwear would include g-strings, t-strings, etc.

I included one picture with the thong panties showing because I know that is one of the arguments against them but I think that is very rare for that to ever happen. Is it a big deal if it does? Why do some parents consider them slutty?

Are push-up bras considered slutty as well?

Fashion has grown a lot. Many women wear new things and consider it stylish. For my part, this piece is more stylish than considered slutty.

Background of my question: my older brother started dating a girl when they were around 15. At that time, she was one of those classic pretty, very popular, very extrovert and also very slutty girls every school has. Our parents and family were not enthusiastic, especially because she was known for being easy.

In in the meanwhile, she finished school, got an ok but far from dreams job as a secretary, and started having hormonal problems which turned her into a giant whale in the turn of a few years. She became obese like the severely obese you see in documentaries about obesity. She still had a pretty face but it was literally swimming in fat. She tried diets and sport but there was nothing to do as it was hormonal.

Our parents as well as our grandparents and all the family started being very critical of my brothers relationship with her, which lasted almost 15 years (they broke up recently). They used to say he kept her around only for convenient sex, because he couldn’t possibly find her attractive for real, they aslways talked about her with embarassement and kept saying he was too handsome to end up with a girl like that. I honestly sometimes thought that as well.

I believe their problem was that their son would look like a loser for dating someone so obese that she would look undesirable in everyone’s eyes.
