At what age should a daughter be allowed to wear thong panties and a push-up/demi-cup bra?

Question

I never personally have had any restrictions from my parents on any underwear that I wore, but I know some parents take this very seriously and do maintain restrictions on it. But to what age can you really control that? ... and should it be controlled?

For this discussion, thong underwear would include g-strings, t-strings, etc.

I included one picture with the thong panties showing because I know that is one of the arguments against them but I think that is very rare for that to ever happen. Is it a big deal if it does? Why do some parents consider them slutty?

Are push-up bras considered slutty as well?

What restrictions would you insist upon for your daughter and what restrictions did you have from your parents?

What are the arguments against wearing either one?

It is not so much at what age to wear what kind of underwear and bra but rather a question of:

A: Hygiene - G-strings are not very hygienic. Just think of that little string rubbing the anus after going to the washroom and you not having the possibility to properly remove all fecal matter. The string then moves back and forth and the risk is very real that fecal matter finds its way onto the vulva and the vagina with the consequences it implies.

B: Comfort: I do not find G-strings comfortable at all with that string permanently stuck in my crack (s)

C: Overall impression that is given when your crack is showing half way like in the picture above answer "C". Bending is a necessity and tight, low cut and pants are a fashion nowadays for girls and a 10 year old child wearing this combination of garments just sends the wrong signal.

Not having a child myself but transposing the rules that applied to me at home, I would say that I am fine to allow a teenager of 14+ to wear a thong and 16+ with a G-string. As for push up/demi-cup bras, it all depends on the size of breasts. Having a DD at age 16 does not require a demi-cup bra but a push-up bra would be ok in order to give a minimum of support.

Where I definitely have an issue is to allow a 12 yo to wear a T-string. That is a no-go for me as I see T-string as an object that has its place in an erotic environment between adults and not to be worn by a pubescent pre-teen or early teenager.

Call me old fashioned but that is the way I am.

I wouldn’t really have as much of a problem with my daughter wanting to wear a push-up bra because being insecure of breast size is understandable, and I get it considering I’m only an A-cup lol. I don’t think it’s slutty to wish they were bigger and closer in size to those of one’s friends and peers, I just see it as a way to feel a little better about oneself.

However, thongs serve no purpose besides deliberately showing off your ass, whether it be for allowing a girl to wear super short booty shorts without exposing the edges of her underwear or to wear skintight leggings without showing a panty line.

So, in my view, push-up bras are okay because they’re to feel better and more confident, but thongs are not okay, at least for a younger girl, because their only purpose is to facilitate showing your ass off to the world.

Probably around 16. That's the age I started wearing thongs too. And I started wearing g-strings at 18. But I'd say 16 for both. I don't see why she should wear them at a younger age though.

I still remember in high school, all the young girls in my class would actually show off their ass in the locker rooms cause they would wear g-strings and thongs. Also show their thongs out of their pants in class too lol was fucking ridiculous. Hopefully my future daughters, if I have any, won't be this silly lol

I am single, and my wife will obviously have a big say in this when the time comes. But my inclination right now is to say that she can wear thongs whenever she wants as long as they are not showing. As for the push-up bra, it seems like the only purpose is to make the breasts look bigger and more enhanced, and I can't see that as being non-sexual. If it is purely for support I don't mind her wearing them, but I wouldn't want her to wear them if she is just seeking attention

Very thought provoking question. I have been wearing thongs etc since 15/16 of age. My mom knew it. I would rather say that it was her permission, but with some restrictions. Now myself a mom tho daughter is only 3, I should admit that earlier I never thought of it that at what age my daughter should wear such stuff. Having read your question, I am constraint to think that fast changing world around us requires us to compromise the situation. However, I would allow my daughter at the age of at least 15/16 to wear thong bikini etc but has to be careful not to expose it while sitting.

I’m not too concerned about it as long as she isn’t showing her thong. I was about 15 when I started wearing thongs. I think around the beginning of high school is probably the most age appropriate. For demi and push-ups, when she had boobs, she can wear them.

whatever bra or panties i wear or even if i dont wear at all they never put any restrictions on me
only instructions i used to get was when my tops were a little transparent
