I'm talking like casual dating, not hookups. Like for the first couple of months of seeing someone, do you keep your options open and see other people too, or is exclusivity natural and/or a given?

Like, there's someone you meet who's brain activity obviously exceeds yours. Would that scare you off from potentially dating them?
I've been wondering. People familiar with my questions know I'm after this one guy & I kinda feel like he might think I'm too, well, intelligent for him? He's by far not stupid & his general knowledge is waaaay better than mine (because mine sucks balls deep), but when talking about school...
Well, I have an NC of 1,3 (equals straight A) without really doing all that much for school. I'm not always paying attention, I don't always do my homework, I cut classes at times & the only subject I study a little for is Maths. He does study for all his classes (does the other stuff, too, though, so neither of us is a teacher's pet) & has an NC of something around 2,4 (somewhere between B & B-).
Some other stuff, too, like my memory is much better than his (which is the reason I don't need to study; I can memorise almost everything from simply doing stuff in class) & I'm an extremely fast reader (I need roughly 30 seconds for one page of your average novel; in both German & English). My German teacher suspects I can be considered highly intelligent in the area of languages & my IQ has been professionally tested as 132 (multiple times, the result was always in that area).
I'm obviously no genius & I tend to agree with people saying all this is kinda wasted on me. I don't gloat with any of this, but I treat it like, well, normal because it's normal to me. I kinda feel like... people are intimidated by that? Is this true? I've noticed he gets kinda silent whenever our subject of conversation switches to my grades or something like that.
So what's the general consensus?

I like this guy but he is close friends with this other girl. I am not that close to my crush because I just moved to this school 2 years ago and they have known each other since they were little. Soon, he will start dating (he is inexperienced right now, and so am I) and I'm scared he will go after that girl. Their families are close too. The catch is she has dated his close friend, and other people he knows. She has gotten dumped multiple times, and by one guy 3 times in a row. I hear from her exes and other people that it is her problem. (ex. being too quiet and shy when it came to talking and stuff.) But she seems way more comfortable around my crush. My crush has teased her for liking him when they were in Jr. High too.
