Mental illness is one of the biggest problems we face today and it's on the rise. Mental illness plays a big role in almost everything wrong with society, crime, gang violence, murder, mass shootings, pedophilia, suicide, addiction, obesity, homelessness, poverty, unemployment and that's just to name a few. Teen suicide rates have quadrupled and there are 400x more people prescribed anti depressants in the last 2 decades. Also mental illness isn't being talked about the right way either, I hear too many people say things like "just get over it" or "you just want attention" and they bring up starving kids in Africa living in mud huts, STOP! Just STOP! YOU 👏 ARE 👏 NOT 👏 HELPING👏. I don't even know what to do to solve this issue, but I can't come up with a solution on my own, we need to start talking about these issues and be open minded, whenever the topic of mental illness is brought up people do what they can to avoid it because they don't feel comfortable talking about suicide and murders, but just ignoring it is not going to solve it, and they treat people suffering from mental illness as monsters and that's just making the problem worse. Most of these people are not monsters, these are people with something fucked up happening in their minds and they need professional help.

I'm asking this because I tend to do more for others than for myself. It sometimes even gets to the point where I get totally exhausted and depressed. Of course, it's always great to have a friend around to talk with when you feel down. But I'm just wondering how you deal with these sorta things. Do you think it's OK to be there for anyone whenever they need you? Or should you just leave some people behind for your own good?
