I've been friends with this guy for about 5 months and since we started hanging out there was an immediate connection. I knew he had a girlfriend and even though their relationship wasn't going well, I didn't want to flirt with him, I liked him, but decided that we're just going to be friends and I behaved like one. It all went well until last month when he started more than openly showing obvious signs of interest and that is something his friends noticed too. We've been hanging out, going out, talking on the phone, sent each other messages, hugged, but we NEVER kissed or anything like that. I started to like him and few days ago I decided to address the big elephant in the room and asked him about everything. He said he liked me, but well... he has a girlfriend (obviously :)). I told him I can't continue to do this anymore, but he was just staring at me confused and didn't give me any specific answer. Since it was late he suggested that we should talk and in meantime think about this. Tonight we've agreed to meet and to talk, but last few days I was thinking of telling him that I can't continue this, and that I need a few months to cool down before we start hanging out again as real friends. Is this harsh? I really like him as a person and I am able of controlling my feelings but I'm afraid he won't be able to stop flirting with me and behaving as we were in a relationship.
