I thought the answer to this was obvious, but I recently saw something on twitter that made me realize that many people feel differently.

Basically, it was a political account where someone tells made up but realistic stories about gun owners. The character in this post was a man who felt the need to keep a loaded gun under his bed. His eight year old son found it, and while playing with it, shot himself in the head, and died.

In the comments, everyone was saying that the person deserved jail, and no mercy. My father has an account that he uses for politics, and said that we should feel sympathetic for the parent. I agree with him. I didn’t think it was even a question, but now I want to know what other people.

I’m for gun control, and I don’t think that people with young children should have guns in the house. However, if the child dies, the parent is already living his/her worst nightmare. Their child died because of their own mistakes. No jail time will come close to the pain caused by the loss of a child. I’m sure they’ve learned. The parent doesn’t need to be berated any more. I feel sympathy for a parent who lost their child.

So, I’ve majorly fucked my life up. I decided to be blinded by an alcoholic’s charm and spent 7 months with him. In the end, he went on a drinking binge which led him to pulling a gun on me and threatening to kill himself and me.
So, I’m going to move and start over because I’m scared that he’s going to come after me. He’s in jail now because that’s a felony.
But, I’m not sure if I should put in a notice at work, or just not go back. I know it’s ultimately up to me. I know I can find a job anywhere. The only thing about this job is that it’s a state job with good benefits. I have to work at least 1 more week so I can get 1 more paycheck. But, should I put in a 1 week notice or just not show up after that last week?
