To put this in perspective, me and my girlfriend met on eHarmony--she is 18, and I am 25. We have been dating for eight months, and everything seemed to be going fine... however, on Friday she told me that she doesn't "feel the same anymore". Apparently she broke down to her mother and said she didn't know if she felt the same because she wasn't feeling the over-the-heels sense that she felt at the beginning. I am her first true boyfriend, so maybe it was the end of the honeymoon phase scaring her... who knows. All I know is, she initially thought about breaking up, then she went ahead and said she really liked the idea of a break for a month (told me we would talk on January 14th, 2016 at 6:30PM). Unfortunately, though... I miss the hell out of her, but I don't know if she really wants a break or if she is just trying to ease the blow on the breakup. She repeatedly tells me that she loves me and that constantly leaves messages with "xo"... she has called me hun and baby since the start of the break, and no matter what she constantly says "Well, if I decide to come back in like a week or two and you're still single will you please give me another chance? Please?", which kind of strikes me as odd because if you're not sure of me now why would you want that reassurance that I'd take you back? It just... is very odd.

What do you guys think? Is it a break? A breakup? I have heard a lot of stories where breaks end with people getting back together especially if there are terms (like she said we can't have sex with other people but talking with others is fine as long as it is friendly and as long as they are just a date like dinner/movie). She also suffers from depression and anxiety as well as self-esteem issues..

Is it doomed, or is there hope? I am leaning towards there being hope especially considering how she still tells me she loves me... but I am also very confused by that.

My best friend is 23. This coworker of his is around our age. He told me how since the first day of work she started conversations with him about stuff and he enjoyed it the friendly conversation. She trained him and also they worked together. They work the night shift at Target. He started working at Target about 6 weeks ago and about three weeks ago at the end of work she asked him if he would be ok with picking her up from her home the next time they go to work since her car is being fixed and if they can carpool together since she doesn't have a ride. She also told him that if she doesn't get a ride she would have to come on her bike to work. She doesn't live close to the Target. My best friend made up an excuse about how he can't do that. He was nice to her about it.(My best friend isn't a bad guy, he is really nice). She seemed to not be upset at him after he told her he can't but she obviously was because at the next day of work she talked very little to him and weeks have passed by and she is still talking very little to him. He told me the true reasons why he didn't give her a ride is because he doesn't like having passengers in his car because if an accident happens and the passenger gets hurt, he would feel responsible for the person being injured (he would feel guilty) even though if the accident wasn't his fault. Also, he doesn't want to wake up like thirty minutes earlier than usual to pick her up since it is already a hastle waking up really early for the night shift. She lives like twenty minutes away from the target. He lives 10 minutes away just by going by street. Another reason is (although it isn't the main reasons). is that his car is not good. Everytime he drives to work he risks it breaking down in the middle of the road, but he risks this, since this has to do with work. She wasn't asking him to give her a ride every single time from now on. She just asked him if he can do it for that one day since her car was being fixed but he is afraid that she will keep asking him for rides in the future if she needs them in the future.
