People keep saying "flu killed more people in the US last year than coronavirus" but the comparison is so stupid because they're comparing the number of deaths over a YEAR (53 weeks) to the number of deaths SO FAR from a virus that's been in our country for 3 weeks & is continuing to rise exponentially.

With these rapidly rising rates, who knows what will be the number of cases & deaths in a year (when it'll ACTUALLY be able to be compared to a year's burden of flu)?

People are determining the death rate of COVID19 by dividing the number of deaths by the number of cases, but that's not accurate because many of those cases haven't died yet, but will die. The accurate way to determine death rate is to compare the number of deaths with the number of people who have recovered.

When taking into account only these closed cases (in which people have either died or recovered), 9% have died worldwide.

Let's look at rates for flu in the year of 2018-2019. 35,520,883 illnesses and 34,157 deaths. That's 0.1%.

People say "the coronavirus rates are skewed because only the people with severe enough symptoms have been tested" but the same could be said for the death rates for flu (and literally every other illness).

Anyway, let's compare hospitalizations. In the year of 2018-2019, there were 490,561 flu hospitalizations, out of 35,520,883 cases, which is a rate of 1.4%. About 15% of people with coronavirus need to be hospitalized.

With all these numbers, it's pretty clear that COVID19 is much more dangerous than the flu. That's why all these precautions are being taken to stop its spread. If it's allowed to get as prevalent as the flu, then the death tolls will be massive.

This question is to settle the debate on abortion once and for all. People who are pro-life or anti-abortion argue that at conception, a fetus is alive and as it grows, its heartbeat and movements prove that it is alive in the placenta. On the flip side, pro-abortion, or "anti-life" as some people my say, argue that a fetus is not alive and a useless lump of skin that develops into a baby and is born after birth. Because of their opinions, they argue that it is okay to kill a fetus even though they know it will eventually develop into a baby.

My opinion: I am pro-life because I see the baby as alive at the point of conception. My comparison to this is, is a plant alive as soon as it sprouts roots or as it breaks the soil surface? As the seed is planted and grows roots, it is alive— just like a fetus being developed after the point of conception. You may not see it at first, but it is there and growing.

I am very against modern (western/european) feminism which is in many ways just a bunch of loud-mouthed attention-seeking idiots falling into the acts (free the nipple, acting/dressing cheaply, etc.) that original feminism was against (sexual objects/male entertainment). I rarely hear them protesting actual discrimination (oh there's some but they're not the norm, not when you've sluts like the Kardashians claiming to be "feminists") & their ideas of a protest for many is bearing their breasts & writing some stupid slogan (turning them more into a joke than anything worth respect).

But then modern feminism is due more to the 2nd wave feminism which copied a lot of the hippie-era ideology (so much for their originality).

And thus not many are real feminists. Many, after all, wouldn't know hardship or discrimination due to their sex if such fell out of the sky & landed on their lap. Back in their mothers, grandmothers & great-grandmothers era after all running their mouths & running about like the local prostitute would have caused a lot of problems for them not have them clapped on the back & told "good twit".

Below, in comparison, is a real feminist. This is a woman worthy of respect. Not many others (particularly in modern western society) can say the same.
And I say that as a 4th generation feminist whose grandmother fought her way (on her own hook, having never remarried her equally poor school boyfriend) from dirt poor uneducated to educated quite well-off property/landlord owner.
