I'm watching the playoff game right now and just thought of that haha. So what sport do you think is tougher/better/etc.?

The biggest differences I see in the two games is that:

1) Rugby is two 40-minute halves, no time-outs, and a 5-minute halftime, whereas Football has 4 quarters and timeouts are allowed (This means that rugby players have to be able to run 40 minutes straight, and they get taken out while the game is still in play)

2) There is minimal padding used in rugby, and the only headgear is the occasional ear guard, it is up to the player whether they wish to use this. I understand that in football, the tackles are more aggressive, but rugby players are taught how to tackle so that there is less damage done, yet it is still as effective, if done properly

In my opinion, rugby requires more athleticism than football. I guess I believe that rugby is tougher than football in general too. I have lived in both America and overseas, so I know about both football and rugby, and my school rugby team overseas was trained by the All Blacks from New Zealand, and when we watched how they were trained, it was apparent that rugby requires more athleticism than football.
