Over the past couple years I have had very good performance reviews but my salary is mostly stagnant. One-time bonuses are what have been used. My company is publicly traded so it’s known it has performed in a stellar manner. I’m curious if others have experienced this same trend of salary capping? I’ve been rather loyal, but perhaps it’s time
for a change. People with capped salaries actually experience a salary reduction as inflation works its magic.

Anyone who has been a gamer for 2-3 generations of consoles (12 or more years), or a gamers as old as me or older, remembers that a new release video game on a game console, has ALWAYS been $60 for a new release title since the 16bit era of Sega Genesis and Super Nintendo.

Knowing that inflation has always happened, and has made EVERY physical good go up in price tag over time, it is a miracle that a new release video game is STILL $60 for a new release game on the current console lineup (PS4/XBoxOne/WiiU/Switch).

Well no, not really. No, video games are not inflation-proof. Video games have simply taken on another model, the "DLC model". The game is still at a $60 price tag for a new release, but some of the content is locked away as downloadable content (DLC), that you pay extra for as an option if you so choose to obtain this content.

I know gamers of today bitch and complain about DLC and how "money hungry" these video game companies are with this current model. But video games are not inflation-proof. The added costs to make modern video games, and the inevitable inflation of the economy as a whole, has to be 'made up' somewhere in the video game business model, in order for these companies and studios to keep their doors open to make the games we love.

Simply put, If you want EVERYTHING in the game without this current DLC model, you would be paying a $80-90 price tag for a video game in the store (whether it be a physical store or a digital store).

With all the above being said, would you rather prefer the current $60 price tag with less initial content and with the optional add-ons, or do you prefer to pay $80-90 to have EVERYTHING in the game without having to buy ad-ons?

Because simply put, these are the only two choices you have as a gamer.
