I’ve been working at the same company for over 2 years as a receptionist.. I’ve never been stressed, I have a coworker that I truly get along with, and I make good money for what I do ($40,000/year with an additional $6,000 in restricted stock units).
Lately, though, I’ve been desperate for new challenge. While I’m not stressed, I’m rather bored. I don’t have any new things to do or learn. It’s just the same thing, every single day... & I don’t have a whole lot to put on my resume that would allow me to “escape” the reception slump. I’m 27 years old, with a college degree, so I have to eventually start thinking about my future.

A new job came up at my company, recruiting coordinator. I weighed the pros and cons and applied for it today despite being on the fence whether it’s a good idea or not. The pros are that it would give me more experience, and it would be more flexible (I can work from home, come in whenever I want, leave early). The cons are that it seems like a somewhat toxic environment, the woman I’d be replacing QUIT because it’s stressful and it’s only a couple more dollars per hour than I make now. So I’d be taking on more stress for only a little bit more money. I talked to the people in the role currently (including the one that’s leaving) and they’re all stressed...

I told my current boss (company policy) that I applied today and she said that she wants to train me for a role as a Corp Ops Specialist. I’d pretty much be guaranteed for a new job within a team that I feel comfortable with, and the job isn’t stressful.

Now I have this application hanging in the air. I consided withdrawing today, but the system we use didn’t allow it. Should I interview for it (if I get the offer, I’d feel obligated to take it because I’d have wasted their time if I don’t) or should I just contact the hiring manager and tell her I’m pulling out of consideration?

Which is the better choice? Which title sounds better?
