First, this is RationalMale. I posted anonymously so all the people I've blocked have a chance to answer as well. I ask this question because of how my week's been.

So as some of you know, I'm working security. I picked up a part time summer thing going around a pretty great neighbhorhood and stopping trespassing at their pools and basketball courts. Basically a "job" that's half work and half chatting up hot lifeguards in bikinis. (Not much point in the residents paying out the nose for a handful of rec centers if they're filled with non-residents.)

So I'm at one pool, I walk up to the basketball court. There's like, 9 people there? Yes, blacks, mostly, and I'm white. I give the 30th canned greeting line of the day and ask to if they have their passes with them. (I only accepted the job because the owner basically promised he'd promote me very quickly to management, since it's a small outfit and I'm experienced.) One person has their pass, for 11 people. I start explaining the rules, that that one pass doesn't work for a group like that, and this ghetto black girl immediatly starts going, "This is harassment. It's because the color of my skin, isn't it?"

She calls her dad, who shows up with another pass, and goes, "I'm a resident, I pay for the right to play here, and I'd appreciate if you don't fuck with my family! Go bother those crackers down there at the pool!"

Then I go down to the pool to call the manager and verify that I need to call the cops and remove the hostile group (two people with membership doesn't work for 12 people, as they know and I explained) and the lifeguards, two muscular white guys who are probably on the high school wrestling team come over, "Hey man, they giving you shit? We can call the cops and have their asses thrown out. Want me to?"

And I realized... damn. This is how is ends up, isn't it? The team lines are drawn, like that. I avoid living in the city, but this kind of thing travels out to me. (for the record, later that day I also kicked another trespassing group of basketball players who were mostly white.)

What do you think? Are racial tensions getting worse? Are we going to have more racial based violence?

So after we went on our 2nd date which was very smooth and funny, she had offered me a new one. I accepted it ofc. She had already said it would be for one of the following days or week. So the next we started talking via texts and i asked which day to go out but she never replied. I asked the same question a few days later but she replied a day later. The day of the date she cancelled due to believable circumstances but yet so lame. Like 30min-1hr prior she warned me, and this was the 2nd time she did it. And the first time i called her out for it;cause i think its lame and really not nice cancelling a date the same day...
So im obv mad, and i had promised to reschedule but i dont feel like giving her that 3rd chance.
But on the other side, we have such nice vibe and such good connecting and understanding of each other, i dont want to let her go. And thats what bothers me.
I mean you can't fake being so happy, like we were the last date. How come she changed so quickly?
The only feeling i get is that she is trying to cut me off, and im willing to help.
But why cause she came to me etc... She wanted to go on all these dates with me etc...
Should i give her another shot or not?

My crush is giving me the impression that she's leaning towards going back to her ex out of fear of starting over. I'm a bit shy to make a move when it's only been about 6 weeks since her breakup. We're good friends and have been confiding in each other. We've been flirting a bit since her breakup and have always gotten along real well over the years. We both had secret crushes on each other and admited them last year when we got drunk.

Anyways, I'm not sure if she knows I still like her or if she thinks I got over her. But I'm scared if I don't act soon, she's going to take him back and give him yet another chance. The guy's had about 5 so far breaking up with her over and over again the past 2 years but then apologizes and she takes him back.

I wrote a letter earlier today to kind of put my thoughts in perspective and help get everything out of my head. The letter describes what I felt for her last year when we admitted our feelings for one another, how I feel today and how I had to let her know how I felt before she gives bozo another chance. In my heart, I think she could be the one.

Now I'm debating if it's a good idea to give it to her or not. Would it mean something to you if you're old crush told you he still likes you and would like a chance to be with you or would that just creep you out and make things awkward?
