Back in May, I called a 'first come, first serve' apartment complex and they told me they had a vacancy. When I spoke to the woman on the phone, she said that the community was preferred to most professionals (like me since I'm a teacher) and that it wasn't 'ghetto' or 'trashy'.

Well, I walk in and everything seems normal. I fill out the application, give my paycheck stubs, and my SSN. I'm supposed to move in June 29th. I asked, too, if the current tenants can go back on their 30 day notice, and she said no because it was submitted in writing and they would have to leave.

A week later, she tells me my dog needs all her vaccines but won't tell me which ones because she 'doesn't know' so I give my dog all of them ($300 worth). Then she tells me I didn't give my employer on my application (Lies, I did, and I even emailed my previous two paycheck stubs). Then she said I didn't fill out my address (I did). Then she calls me and tells me she can't give me an exact move in date anymore because they don't know the condition of the apartment until the current tenants leave. Finally, she tells me the apartment is no longer available because the current tenants no longer want to move. She said she never said they couldn't go back on their notice and that my background check is non refundable because I 'knew the risks'.

I have a new apartment now, but my colleagues, friends, and parents believe I was denied the apartment because I was black, something she didn't know until I walked in the office. This is based on her comments as well as how I presented myself on the phone. A lot of people have mistaken me for 'white' due to my proper English (which, you know, is ridiculous) and being a teacher in a white district kind of solidifies that. Even my principals think I wasn't given the apartment because of my race.


Should I file a Fair Housing complaint against the office or leave it alone?

I've been single for almost two years. I am really much happier with someone than by myself. How much self-improvement can a person do?
I have a good job, I work out, volunteer, take art classes for fun, have friends, help my parents. I do so much to be better at different things in life and yet I don't meet anyone. I adopted a cat and a dog because loneliness was impacting my emotional and mental health.
I'm beginning to believe I am not meant to be happy and that my ex was the last man for me.

Okay, first, I'm moving next Friday and will owe my new complex $887. Each paycheck I get is about $1,262 but I have to pay the movers, owe my parents $300 for new brakes on my car (not really pressing, they said I can make payments), get my dog's teeth cleaned and some removed ($250), and I need to start buying new stuff to put in my classroom for the upcoming school year (4th grade teacher) plus I bought brand new furniture and a TV for my apartment.

Well, this is not sitting well with my friend, who is getting married next year. She wants all her bridesmaids to have our dresses before October, which is not happening simply because I do not have the finances for it. The dress she picked is $300 and the converse sparkly shoes (not kidding) are $150. She said that $450 is completely reasonable until I reminded her that I spent maybe $165 total for my outfit at my own sister's wedding a couple years ago (that outfit had a shawl, too, a whole extra piece and still over half the cost of what my friend wants).

But I'm not actually opposed to spending $450. I'm just opposed to doing it this instant, especially when the wedding is July 2019.

She said I'm being selfish and asked me how can I afford a $600 TV and $800 couch but not a $450 bridesmaid outfit. I explained to her the concept of 'payment' plans and that having a comfortable apartment is more of a priority than a dress and shoes I'm literally going to wear one time. Then she asked if my dog's surgery could wait.

Dunno, I don't feel like I'm being unreasonable, especially since her fiance is paying all of her bills since she works only two days a week and has massive debt (including a loan he has NO CLUE she took out). I don't have a lawyer fiance who is willing to pay for all my stuff while I try to figure out what I want to do for a living. I'm single and have to pay my own way.

We were friends with benefits because we lived far away and he didn’t want a ldr, but there were feelings involved on both sides and he was my closest friend in the world.

After two years, I told him I couldn’t go on like that and he agreed to remain just normal friends.

He got himself a girlfriend immediately, like a week later, which made me suffer a lot because I was in love with him.

Months later, I told him It had hurt me a lot and I had felt like he had lied to me (because of his behavior before and after we ended our thing, I won’t go in the details). In the same text I also told him I was seeing someone.

Afree that text, he’s been treating me as you would treat someone who has cruelly killed your dog. He blocked me everywhere, was very aggressive and won’t talk to me anymore. Why?
