I'm not interested in having a relationship with him as he is married, and I have a wonderful boyfriend. I ask this question because it seems to me that his behavior could suggest he is attracted to me.

I attend a very small college (500 students max) and it is not unusual for students and professors to act more like best friends. This professor (mid 30s) is the chairman of our department, but he really acts more like a teenager. We are a small department, so he and I work closely together. Over the last year I there have been only a handful of times when I though things seems a bit awkward but these were minor instances. (i. e. he was speechless a couple of times when I dressed up for an event and very highschool boy-like complimented me on how beautiful I looked)

However, recently we went on a tour for alumi and prospective students. He would accompany me places by holding my waist and stand so close to me our shoulders would touch even though there was plenty of room around us. He has placed his hand on my thigh several times in conversation while sitting next to me (lingering for more than a couple of seconds), and gently brushes my bare knee when trying to get my attention to speak. After a hug his hand stayed on my hip as we talked. Although he is friendly with all his students (we all hug and have a causual relationship) I can't imagine him acting this same way towards them, and I've certainly never wittnessed it.

Funnily enough he never acts so openly and relaxed when my boyfriend is nearby. Am I overreacting or does there seem to be something there? Because of his light and boyish manner I can't tell if he is just oblivious or actually attracted.

Ideas?
