With most music it may not be as much of a contributor but with gangster rap It is a major factor in inner city lifestyle because it isn't just something people listen to and sing along with. To most people that listen to that music (I'm referring to people raised in the suburbs, rural areas or anything other than impoverished inner city communities) it is just another song that they can rap with and pretend that they are also a gangster or something but that's all it is, pretend. For inner city people living in poverty the lyrics of the music is a way of life. People actually do the terrible things in those songs... murder, drug deals, going to prison, getting women knocked up and leaving them, degrading women. Because suburban kids think that they lyrics are cool or whatever they dont realize that they are enabling the culture to be repeated in the places where stuff like that actually happens. Little kids from those areas are looking at their role models (gangster rappers) and thinking "this is how I'm supposed to act and I need to be like this in order to fit in". The sad fact is that a significant percentage of those young boys don't have a father figure to steer them in the right direction so they turn to media like tv and music and older men in their community and they see what they do so it must be the right thing to do. If suburban kids that have never even seen a gun before would stop enabling the lifestyle by praising the music then the people that actually live those lives would have a better chance at a successful and fulfilling life led by better societal role models. Something to think about; Africa's Joseph Kony of the LRA is known throughout the world to be a terrible person. He is known as a notorious murderer and drug trafficker among other exploits. If the whole world condemns this man, why in American culture do we praise people for commiting the same acts? Is it because there is a catchy beat behind their words?

It seems to me that these days men in general aren't allowed to have standards. and if a man dares to admit that he dislikes a certain trait in a potential partner many people start accusing him of all sorts of things, basically if a guy wants a girl that is not a slut he is called weak, insecure and with no character, if a guy wants a girl who is a good mother and can cook and clean he is deemed an asshole or too shitty of a boyfriend, if a guy doesn't want a girl who has plenty of guy friends he's called insecure and should just shut up and deal with it cause a girl is not going to change anything to make the guy she wants to marry happy, and the list goes on...

But what about women standards? they haven't changed much really, tall, good looking, good job, money, fun and interesting personality and being wanted by other females, which is why players get all the chicks, ( lets be realisitic here, they have sex a lot... with women, so saying that their games dont work on women is dumb and ignorant at best ) .
