It seems to me that these days men in general aren't allowed to have standards. and if a man dares to admit that he dislikes a certain trait in a potential partner many people start accusing him of all sorts of things, basically if a guy wants a girl that is not a slut he is called weak, insecure and with no character, if a guy wants a girl who is a good mother and can cook and clean he is deemed an asshole or too shitty of a boyfriend, if a guy doesn't want a girl who has plenty of guy friends he's called insecure and should just shut up and deal with it cause a girl is not going to change anything to make the guy she wants to marry happy, and the list goes on...

But what about women standards? they haven't changed much really, tall, good looking, good job, money, fun and interesting personality and being wanted by other females, which is why players get all the chicks, ( lets be realisitic here, they have sex a lot... with women, so saying that their games dont work on women is dumb and ignorant at best ) .

There's a certain amount of truth to this. You have to walk on eggshells around women. They'll take everything as a personal insult. Not meeting your approval, about anything, becomes a personal insult.

No. both genders are entitled to standards so long as the standards aren't ludicrous like the whole "high end job, good looks, wanted by other women" thing. Some men have ludicrous standards as well (pretty face, perfect body etc). Things like loyalty, character and heart are far more important in my opinion. A good job doesn't guarantee a successful marriage. A perfect body doesn't guarantee a good mother.

I think the double edged sword exists for both genders tbh. I'm sorry if you dealt with that but not all women think this way. I thought like you when I was in my twenties, and I'm proud to admit that at 32, I can still count on one hand the number of men I have been with. I'm not married and haven't been in a relationship for a few years but that's because I don't believe in having sex unless it's with someone who I could really see myself falling in love with and I rarely meet men who I instantly click with. Men are certainly allowed to have standards, and women's standards have definitely changed. Where the focus was once on women seeking a good provider with good genes, love has become a lot more prominent. So women seek partners that they can talk to and can laugh with =)

You seem very traditional in what you want from a woman. While there's nothing wrong with that in itself, it inspires ire when those standards only go one way. For instance, you don't want a "slut" yet show admiration for men who sleep with a lot of women. So I"m guessing you think it's alright to sleep with a lot of women yourself (if you could), but would see a woman as "less" if she did the same. That right there is hypocritical. Don't expect something from a woman that you don't expect from yourself.

There's nothing wrong with wanting someone who will be a good mother and can cook and clean. But only if you too have taken steps to making sure you can be a good father, and that you too can cook and clean. Why should the standard be lower for you than it is for the woman you're dating?

You're obviously a traditionalist and I'm a progressive. So I'm not going to even try and argue on the "slut" front because you and I are never going to see eye to eye. But I'll have you know that I certainly don't expect my partners to earn more than my, or to physically protect me. I like being self-sufficient, and I don't date them because I need a protector. I date them because I like them and I want to be around them more.

But as for why you should cook and clean even if you make more money than your spouse? Because the workload should be balanced. If you're both working, than it doesn't matter who makes more money. Both jobs will likely require similar time and effort, and therefore household chores should be split. If she's only working part time, then she should do more at home. But you should still help a little.

And if she's staying home with kids, then you should still help out. Taking care of kids is actually long and tiring work. Most mothers don't get a break. They often get up before their husbands to get the kids ready for school, and go to bed after their husbands as they're still preparing things for the next day. How is that possibly fair?

And no matter what, raising the children should be equal. A stay at home mother would obviously spend more time with them. But their father should still help take care of them. Parents should work as a team, and should have equal roles in spending time with the kids, in enforcing discipline and rules, and in helping with things like schoolwork.

I too feel like I walk on egg shells with women. They carry this horrible scary aura around - maybe its stress, working for money, periods, menopause, contraceptives, told to dress sultry, forced by fake fake estimates to not have children. I think some things standards are very important in. Instead of focusing on what positives she has you should focus on what negatives she shouldn't have.

You need to be able to cope with her negatives.

If men set standards and adhered to them, the entire dating/marriage landscape would improve. Forming a relationship is not so different than forming an employer/employee relationship. Like if a girl doesn't care about her partner's sexual history she is more likely to take issue with guys who do care about her sexual history. However a girl who DOES care about her partner's sexual history is unlikely to insult or act condescending towards guys who judge girls based on sexual history because her standards are the same and she can relate to them.

Of course you can have standards. Perhaps society does not yet allow for it, but it's a very personal choice who you decide to date and eventually marry. If you wish to express your opinions on the opposite gender verbally, I'm afraid there will always be some form of backlash. Yeah, sadly, people are always going to be that way. If you decide to tell someone outright your reasons for not wanting to date them, they will most likely feel offended and think you are attacking or insulting them personally (which may or may not be your intention?) for the choices they make or attributes they have. If they think of you as shallow or insecure because of this and it bothers you, well, I can't help you there. I guess you should just remember that you are not obligated to date anyone and thinking that does not make you less of a person. How you voice your opinions, however, is what more often than not tends to have repercussions.

which is what confuses me, iam not asking for a maid my mother is a perfect housewife, no job and she cooks and cleans very well and everyone admits that she does, but sometimes she doesn't feel like cooking, sometimes i dont want any meals , and sometimes she's simply tired and has no time for cooking or cleaning, and its cool but at least cooking and cleaning 2-3 times a week or even 4 doesn't sound like much, girls nowdays want to go on vacations, buy stuff and have fun , but they dont want to have any responsiblities as housewives or mothers.

You're either too poor to afford anything at all, both of you struggle from paycheck to paycheck barely making rent working 60 hours a week, or only one of you works very little and makes enough to support a family of four. Lets not forget that beauty is subjective in the first place which right away negates this whole proposition that someone who is 'very attractive' shouldn't be with someone 'ugly' because for someone else, they may both be attractive'. Or, better yet, other people won't be half as shallow and will realize that relationships are built on compatibility in respect to morals/values/personality, and not purely on your physical characteristics.
