Search Results: avoiding boy

Recently, I've been observing this one boy in my class. He's relatively shy at least around me. We've never said anything other than a mere thank you. My friends and I have caught him numerous times staring at me smirking or smiling mischeviously or innocently. He examines me keenly, he waits back to make sure he's at the back of me. If we are walking up stairs he'll move to the side to make space.
a few days ago his friends were teasing him. His best friend said oh he has something to tell you. He said no relax relax all suddenly and avoided eye contact. Due to this his friends pulled it off as a 'joke', all I know was that I was bright red. The next day he avoided me at all costs, if he saw me he'd go in the opposite direction. He left class super early and avoided eye contact only if he was certain I wouldn't notice according to a friend of mine.
The next day he acted a bit normal he seemed still shaken up a bit, but better. He did his staring and passing back. He did his normal sitting routine which is him sitting in this seat by himself pointed towards me with his friends at the back looking into my direction. He only does this to me im a bit conflicted right now.
my main question is does he like me and why did he react this way?
