People often assume that those who gain weight are de facto lazy and don't care about their health when in reality it is far from always being the case.

Like other types of unhealthy addictions (smoking, drinking, gambling etc) overeating is a way for many to find solace in times of hardship like heartbreak or grieving etc.

A couple of years ago I got diagnosed with PCOS. I didn't get any other undesirable health effects (my hormones are normal, so no unwanted hair, no infertility problems and no other symptoms) however I did gain a decent amount of weight and I stopped having normal periods and got a problem with insuline resistance as well as mood swings.
I managed to lose half the weight I gained these past 3 months and I'm still dieting.

At first I was very insecure and ashamed about gaining weight but eventually I stopped caring and just focused on getting my health back.

This has been a huge deal since just recently Danielle bregoli was ridiculed for wearing braids. So my question is, black women, including me tend to frown upon or look at one who isn't black wearing braids with a little concern. Now as that may sound hypocritical, it sorta is. While black women dont naturally have straight and blonde hair, its normal for them to walk around with it but when a white person wears box braids its a problem. It almost seems like to them that since white women have no problem with growing and taking good care of their hair, black women otherwise have to be a little more critical of what we do with our hair. So things such as braids allow us to keep our hair out of our face. Then when white women or otter races wear it, its looked at as copying or cultural appropriation.
