Search Results: letting go of a guy

So I’ve worked for my company for two years and I’ve known since early on that my boss is really really good friends with the head of HR and part owner of our firm.

But slowly as I got to know more people outside of the office certain things would be mentioned in casual conversations.

During a Fitbit competition I was complaining about the two women always sneaking in extra steps before midnight. A guy told me, well “they” have all those dogs and they have to be walked one at a time. My boss told me she didn’t own dogs.

Finally someone mentioned the HR manager was trying to stall my boss from leaving their house this morning. So I finally ask a friend if they live together and she said yes, she didn’t know that they were in a relationship until a couple of years ago. So she worked for the company for 4 years before someone let her in on the secret.

I feel pretty silly and a bit hurt. I think at least at a basic level maybe not legally but ethically I probably had some right to know about the conflict of Interest.

But mostly I just feel like a fool recalling throughout today all of the times my boss directly lied to me about certain details or concealed details about where she lives, who she went on vacation with and basically everything.

Why keep it secret it does more harm than just letting it come up through the course of conversation. And it isn’t a secret applied consistently, most people know and many actively aide in the cover up.

It really feels like lie by omission and I just feel a little disrespected by the whole charade. Like maybe people I work with felt it was time I should know. HR and my boss both know I found out but didn’t come to talk to me about it.

Me & this guy hit it off as soon as we met at work Became very strong friends Ended up sleeping together multiple times He found a job in his field an hour away.
We still keep in touch Texting every day, all day & night sometimes
I realized my feelings were stronger & my gut is telling me he feels the same & he’s just scared He told me straight out he was afraid I would hurt him At his new place He video chats & shows me around Still texting everyday
One day we’re talking & Out of the blue he says “Can’t talk long. I have a date tonight” I give him kudos & say “okay I’ll let you go” but he says “it’s okay she’s not here yet We can still talk”
the very next day he does it again “Got another date tonight. She’s on her way over”
I’m trying to be happy/supportive but it kinda hurt. The next morning he ask if I was okay & said I sounded upset
A couple days later, we planned to meet up for his bday The morning of he said I’m awake :) & I said see ya soon. half an hour later he says “hey some people want to take me out for a birthday thing. Let’s meet up later”
I say “okay. Fine. Just let me know”
He says “Don’t be mad”
he didn’t text me later letting me know anything. So I just left it alone
the next week he posts a snap story saying how his favorite show can’t even distract him
I ask what the matter. He says long story tell you later.
The next day he tells me
“You know those dates I’ve been having. Well, she’s in the hospital & I have no way to communicate w/ her. I’ve been trying not to cry for the past 2 days. I’m worried I never felt like this about a girl
But then when I Told him to go see her. He says she told him she doesn’t want him to see her like that.
How would she tell him this if he had no way to communicate with her
Now keep in mind He moved to this new place on the 28th, been on 2 dates (w 2 different girls he said), then this girl (no name was mentioned), & now she’s in the hospital. And this all happened by the 10th.
