I saw a post from a girl who had what she called a fuck buddy for the past 5 months. She had developed feelings for her partner but she had never expressed those feelings to him and she was reluctant to do so. That struck me as quite odd.

1. She can take off her clothes and let him see every square inch of her naked body but she can't tell him how she feels.

2. It is possible that he has feelings for her but is also reluctant to express them. So, if neither of them is willing to discuss this. . . they would rather let the opportunity for a relationship pass than face the possibility of being rejected. I've never heard of anyone dying due to being rejected by a member of the opposite sex!

For you guys, texting seems to be the norm for asking a girl for a date or for breaking up. You go out on a date and you spend your time texting other people. And you wonder why you don't feel connected! You are afraid to take a chance and have somebody say - to your face - "Thanks, but I'm not interested in going out with you." I have asked girls for a date and heard excuses, lies, and outright rejections. I just moved on to the next potential romantic interest. It's really not a big deal!

So. . . how do YOU feel about telling someone, "I really like you and I'd like to spend more time with you"? If you love someone, or even if you just seriously like them, you shouldn't show it: true or false?

I've seen a lot of successful marriages of people from different parts of the globe, almost unaware of where the other person is from and what living like them entails, gradually learning about each other and falling in love in the process.
Although I'm not against marrying in my own community/country/religion etc. but living in a foreign country makes me think.
There are so many people who break up saying 'they're too different' so what if the person you're 'similar' to or rather meant to be with is completely different from you in every aspect of their history but have the all the qualities you were looking for?

So have you ever met someone you didn't want to date cause they knew nothing about your history and culture? Has this been/could be a dealbreaker?

Ideally, people sort of want the whole package. Smart, attractive, funny, skilled at many things, talented, compassionate, etc.

But in reality, that rarely ever happens, as this is the real world, and the real world is imperfect.

So what I'm asking is, would you rather date someone who is overall a good person and works hard, but is kind of stupid and takes a while to realize some obvious things, though they try their best. Or someone who is smart and talented, but personality-wise they're a complete and total unlikable jerk who thinks they're superior to everyone else.

Me, personally, it's the lovable idiot, hands down. Personality over smarts and talents for me. Plus, I can always teach them new things, as long as they're an open-minded person.

I once cheated in a serious relationship. It was the only girl I had ever been with that hadn't tried to play me, yet I was a hardheaded freshman in college and I ended up breaking her heart. I was typically the one to get cheated on or lied to up until then. It was one of the worst things I've ever had to realize when I saw someone I cared about get their heart broken in real-time and it was all my fault. I couldn't date for almost a year afterwards. The last relationship I was in after the girl I cheated on was rather emotionally abusive, but she said something that resonated in me. She made it seem like she was only emotionally abusive because she couldn't trust me after I told her that I cheated before. A girl I talked to before her commented something similar. Is it just that they were both females who had been cheated on in the past and couldn't risk it again, or am I truly seen as less valuable because of a terrible mistake I once made?
