I have a guy friend that I’ve known since 2010. We were intimate briefly in 2016 before he moved away.. we’ve stayed friends for the most part. One thing I’ve tried to avoid is mentioning if I spend time with someone.. he’s had issues with other guys being nice to me in the past.. specifically if it was someone he knew. I was set up with someone by a friend and the guy ended up treating me horribly. When I spoke with my fmr intimate friend.. I told him thank you for always being someone I feel safe around and can trust. I didn’t say anything to him about the set up treating me bad to illicit jealousy.. was reaching out to a friend and saying thank you for always treating me with respect and being someone I can trust and feel safe around. We’ve been friends longer then any of the intimacy.. I’m just curious how guys take being told by a girl that they trust them and feel safe with them.. I’m grateful the friendship he and I’ve had has largely held together since 2010.. when he recently called me princess the other day.. that did catch me off guard when I thought he was joking when he’d said that and when I said you’re my loyal advisor.. he replied with.. I thought you were gonna say I was your king.. opinions helpful.. just curious how it makes you guys feel to hear from a girl that you’re not related to.. that they trust you and feel safe with you..

I have been together with him for 3 years. We went through MANY ups and downs together and currently in a LDR. The past few days I've been thinking of breaking up with him because I think he deserves better. Also, I think I am the one with the issues here and I'm talking about - jealousy, insecurity yada yada, you name it. Honestly, I'm scared of losing him, because I'm still so in love with him and I know he feels the same way too.

It's just that lately we have been constantly fighting, even the smallest thing. But by the next morning we would apologised to one another and carry on with our day. Then before our routine night calls, I would start having weird thoughts again, thinking he's with someone else.. and I start questioning him if he's cheating on me, which made him upset and started raising his voice asking me why would I asked such stupid question.

See. I'm the one with the issue right? I know I sound so stupid. I love him but I am just not good for him. And I don't know why am I like this. What if I made the wrong decision? Please help.

I wouldn’t snoop through my boyfriend’s phone without his permission. But I honestly feel like I can’t believe what he says because he’s lied to me and broke my trust. He’s recently started talking to a girl he slept with while were on a break, she doesn’t even qualify as an ex. He never wanted to date her and he made that clear. Yet she wanted a relationship with him and was very childish when she found out we were getting back together. I don’t mind if they’re just civil friends, but it does make me uncomfortable to think of them being too close and I don’t believe that’s just jealousy and insecurity talking. I believe if he’s in a committed relationship with me, there should be boundaries between them.

I asked him some time ago if they were talking again, and he lied to me. Then a week later I brought it up saying how uncomfortable it made me felt, and that’s when he decided to tell me. I was hurt. I have been cheated on before, and my ex used text to cheat. So I do have trust issues, but at the same time my current boyfriend is displaying the same behavior my ex did when he started cheating on me and I just can’t ignore it.

I asked if he could show me the texts to clarify there’s nothing going on, and he told me it was an invasion of privacy. But he broke my trust and our relationship is on the fence now. So he told me he’d think about it. I’m so confused, if he has nothing to hide then why would he not want to just show me and things could get back on track. But if he chooses to keep hiding things from me then obviously this relationship isn’t going anywhere.

So is it really controlling of me to ask for the texts? If so, what are some other options for us to work through this?
