Colorado Teen Flouts School Policy, Wears Mexican And U. S. Flag Sash To Graduation

A Colorado student barred from wearing a sash representing the flags of Mexico and the United States to her high school graduation did so anyway, partially covering it with another sash representing her participation in a service organization.

“Always stand up for what you believe in,” Grand Valley High School graduate Naomi Peña Villasano told the Post Independent of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, after receiving her diploma on Saturday in the west-central Colorado town of Parachute.

Peña Villasano’s case is the latest dispute in the U. S. about what kind of cultural graduation attire is allowed at commencement ceremonies.

Peña Villasano challenged school officials in court after they said she would be banned from graduation ceremonies if she wore the sash that has stars and stripes on one side and a cactus, eagle and a serpent to represent the Mexican flag on the other side.

A federal judge had ruled Friday that the school district could bar Peña Villasano from wearing the sash at graduation. However, with her flag sash partially covered with a gold Key Club International one, no one tried to stop Peña Villasano from crossing the stage to receive her diploma.

Western girls aren’t happy at all! Western girls are trash and everything bad. That’s why there’s a huge population crash on the way. Those girls are a mess.

whereas Muslim women are happy to have like 5 kids, respect and obey their husbands. Muslims have huge respect and defend their religion and family. Whereas you can mock Christianity, I mean it says in the bible not to be gay, whereas Christians now accept it. It’s a mockery, a joke.

I mean you go to Dubai/Saudi/Qatar and you can leave the key in your lambo and it will still be there.

I live in South Korea. The positive is that crime is very low compared to the US. Like, "leave your doors unlocked and leave your car door open with the keys inside and no one will steal it" low. Crime does happen, but it's very rare compared to the West. There's two reasons for this; 1) CCTV is everywhere, so you kind of have to give up all privacy outside the home in exchange for this "safety" and 2) Korea, and east Asia in general, is a culture built on reputation and shame, so being caught as a criminal is a lot worse compared to the relatively shameless United States, where we'll do anything and everything regardless of what the community thinks of you.

I have Korean associates and coworkers, and generally Koreans love the US, but many of them wouldn't want to live there because they think everyone is getting shot left and right all the time (the American mainstream media is largely to blame). Koreans also think crime is rampant.

One Korean associate thinks Koreans aren't brave and bold enough to be criminals and that Asians in general are too timid to live like Western criminals do. Other Koreans disagree that crime relates to bravery. I'm unsure how to think of this, but am kind of leaning on the fact that yes, it takes a lot of balls to be a criminal.
