Polls: Religion & Spirituality

I guess this is more of a philosophical question than a religious or spiritual one. But do you think some of us were meant to be unhappy or miserable and endure certain hardships for some reason? Religion and spirituality talk a lot about trials in life and overcoming them. But are some of us NOT meant to overcome?

I have been pondering this question for a long time because I look back at my life and, while I definitely haven't had it as hard as others, it hasn't been overly easy. I can't find a good paying job despite having a college degree. I have bi-polar disorder which has wreaked havoc on my life in so many ways that I'd have to write a MyTake or two just to go into detail. I don't have a good relationship. I live with my parents. And on top of that, I'm 27. I have nothing going for me. But I still get up, continue sending out hundreds of resumes and trying to find a purpose.

But I look at all of my friends who have kids and happy marriages, houses, great jobs and careers, tons of friends, and genuinely enjoy life. It's like they get what they want but I don't. In fact, they have the things that I want. And I'm beginning to believe that maybe that life just wasn't meant for me. What's more frustrating is that the things they have doesn't seem like they worked too hard for it if at all. I could be wrong because I'm not them, but dating wasn't hard for them nor was finding a job they love. For me it's like finding a needle at the bottom of the ocean.

I'm not trying to write a sob story, but I also know that many of these friends would not be able to handle a lot of the things I have to such as my mental disorder or being lonely or single all the time. They have problems, but many of them are petty ones like a co-worker who doesn't like them or having to sit in traffic for an extra hour.

But otherwise, they genuinely love their life. So are some of us just supposed to be miserable for some odd reason?

just curious, please don't take this question in an insulting way because some people will take it the wrong way. plus, I'm not gonna kill you and force you to come to my religion if your religion is not the same as mine...

oh and by the way, my religion is christianity lol :D

I ask this because everywhere you go, it appears that women were meant for men. The way that a woman's beauty is glorified and that women are the ones that it is said to be of a successful man. He is said to be successful with a woman and women who are married live 4 years shorter than unmarried but men who are married live 10 years longer than men who aren't married.

The bodies of women are more adorned head to toe at every age. Little girls have hair bows, ribbons and barrettes in her hair but a little boy has nothing in his. A teen girl is protected by her father more than his teen son is. Her lack of sex is heralded while his lack of sex is questioned if he's homosexual.

At high school proms, a girl exposes her crevice area, arms, legs from knees down and sometimes back. Her feet are not covered with socks and her toes and feet are exposed. A boy at a prom is always covered exposing just face and hands. His neck is covered.

Even at church, a female can wear necklaces, bracelets and anklets but a male wearing anklets would be questioned as to his sexuality. Even if he wears bracelets or necklaces, he's considered not masculine by some, even though some necklaces and bracelets are just for men.

A woman losing her hair is far less like than a man losing his hair. If a male wears short shorts, he is considered homosexual. If a woman wears male styled overalls, she's considered cute.

This is a very interesting subject. Please people, don't be immature. Everybody got the right to believe in what they want. Respect each others. Thank you.

I'm more of an agnostic person, because no proof is sufficient from either sides. Religion and science are two opposite lines. Science deals mostly with empirical evidence while religion deals in metaphysical claims.

Personally, I think that religion is philosophic. And I honestly feel like Jesus was a very wise man.
