I've been seeing this guy and we've only seen each other a couple times.. recently there was a situation that freaked him out and he was overthinking and his anxiety got the best of him.

There was a point where we almost ended things and then i asked him if he was worried or wanted me to leave and he said he wanted me to leave because it was probably best but i was not giving up and he thought about it and said we will give it another shot.. so for the past couple of days the conversation was really dry , you could tell the difference between before and after the situation.

We planned on the weekend to talk about things. He told me he feels better but he's still thinking about things. Anyways i got to thinking about things and then decided it was probably best to end things. Then he told me he felt sad about ending things and he didn't want to say goodbye, told me he missed me and thought its a good day on the weekend to talk about thingss and he was waiting for then to talk. He said there's just been a lot going on in his life at the moment and thats why he hasn't been talking as much but still wants to see me and spend time with me.

Seen this guy for a while, we speak for hours every day on the phone, we have a connection like I’ve never had before, like a best friend but more.

Haven’t had sex yet because we wanted to wait, cause he was sexually coerced & abused by this girl who then made a false allegation against him when he eventually rejected & left her, he had sworn off sex for life until he met me. He’s currently waiting for results of the investigation which has put him in a depression and struggle with trust. But he told me I’m the best thing that’s ever happened to him, that I repaired him and brought him hope and trust back in people, that he’s grateful and so lucky to know me.

He was supposed to see me next week and was super excited, but today all of the sudden he cancelled because his mental health has hit rock bottom the past week & work is piling up, he said he knows if he sees me he’ll catch major feelings (which I think he already kind of has), and isn’t ready for a relationship and needs to see a therapist. He doesn’t want me to be his emotional crutch (he’s been really open about his feelings) and wants to man up and take his problems on himself and said it wasn’t fair on me to take on all his downs.

I asked if he needed a break and he said yes and that he’s going to take a break from social media to recharge and focus on himself and work. He said he’s really upset and wished circumstances were different and that he’s really gonna miss me. I told him I’d give him space and wait for him when he’s ready. I’m just worried he won’t contact me again because he doesn’t want to bother me. I don't know what to do cause I’ve caught feelings he’s such an amazing guy and I don’t want to lose what we have & can’t see myself with anyone else. He was just such a breath of fresh air from a series of failed dates and relationships, & felt like I found something truly real for once.

Do you think he’ll get back to me? Is it worth waiting for? How long should I wait before moving on?

I met this guy on a dating site a few weeks ago and we’ve been texting everyday throughout the day since, with him initiating every morning. He asked me out for our first date. It went well and he and said he wanted to see me again soon after.

Some time passes and I got impatient and asked him on the second date. It seemed like we were both having a good time, but had a slight hiccup (he walked me to my apartment and I tried to kiss his cheek but he was trying to get to my lips but we laughed it off and had a quick peck after, it was an awkward/cute moment). We still expressed to each other that we had a good time.

But, it’s like things changed overnight after that because he’s been texting a lot less frequently and more sporadically. I’ve been used to waking up to a good morning text from him over the past few weeks but so far today, nothing. I also haven’t heard from him in over a day now.

I should also mention, we’re both PhD students so we’re both busy. But it’s literally gone from him texting me to let me know everything he’s doing, to much less frequent texting. It’s been a few days of this but I’m worried. My biggest priority is protecting myself and feelings if this is the beginning of a slow fade. Or maybe he felt weird from our moment from that night? I’d really like some input and can answer any other questions if more info is needed.
