He wants to confront my mother for directly insulting him in the past, meddling too much in our relationship, treating him poorly, bad-mouthing/gossiping about him to others, being a fake friend for years, issuing an insincere apology once and now (in the present time) being fake nice.

He hates lying, fake people and hypocrisy. He hates that trait in a person. In addition, he thinks a fake apology is more insulting than getting none... and if it's not a real reconciliation then it creates another longer war and the same offense happens again. As of now he doesn't like her at all and wants to confront her soon. He's running out of patience and wants to let it all out anytime. If you were my boyfriend that got treated like garbage, would you want to confront her too?

I'll never forget a Nigerian colleague. He was disturbed, he was disgusted even, by the African Americans he saw in his city sitting on welfare, guggling beer like water & doing drugs on the street corners. He, of course, was black himself.

Were these African Americans sitting on welfare cause of white privilege? Or cause gangbangers had glorified crime versus a 9 to 5 job and so kids were flunking school left, right and center? Why put yourself through high school for a minimum wage job, a job that many white kids have done themselves to put themselves through college/university, when you can make a couple hundred (or thousand) a night running drugs? Seriously. That's just an easy example. It's not just blacks. But then if white privilege was real none of them would ever succeed. Yet you've millions of successful non-white business owners, professionals, athletes, etc.

And how can white privilege exist when different ethnic groups in "white" society are discriminated against.

Where I live French (aka "white people") are treated rather poorly. They are harassed, they are discriminated against, and they are subjected to demeaning slurs. If you are French you automatically have a black mark against your name. I remember asking for something at a local bistro & I pronounced the name of a Quebec city as Trois-Rivières instead of "Three Rivers". Behind me came a response "you speak French" with the same contempt of asking did I have an extremely contagious disease from one of the locals who previously were so chummy & friendly.

Someone always regarded you as a loser, treated you poorly and never liked you. Suddenly bad things happened either to them or their family/friends.

They then want to be cool with you and make peace. Would you accept their truce offer? I wouldn't. It shouldn't take a tragedy to suddenly like me.
