My ex broke up with me twice two years ago. End of 2016. He was my first boyfriend and it was a horrible experience. He was an alcoholic and abuser. I could tell he was a very broken man but he tried to have fun and be happy.

When he deactivated his social media two years ago I knew in my gut something was wrong but I couldn’t find out until fast forward to current time when I moved back into my hometown. He drunk drove and almost killed someone and now he’s in jail. This happened a month after our breakup. I had no idea until I had a hunch to look him up.
Serves him right and he deserves to be in there but I also feel so bad for him because I know he doesn’t have any support and he’s alone. I don’t think many people know and I know his parents probably disowned him. It’s all assumptions though. I’m a spiritual person and although I don’t feel anything romantic- my heart breaks that he reached this point in life. Although he didn't give one crap about me I wish I could send an anonymous letter telling him to stay strong and god is making a plan for him.

Anytime I have a fight with past friends or anyone in general I always reach out and see how they are and 99% of the time we are cool. Reached out to ex best friends- ex acquaintances and more. No matter who. Would it be weird if I send an anonymous letter to him? Ugh but I may be considered a stalker and he may report me? I maybe his brother may find out and get mad? Is it over stepping the line? I really have a big heart which is bad. I reached this part in my life where I’m going to church and giving out to the community and etc.

My dude and I got into a fight.
He told me if we where gonna be able to stay together I needed to find some where to go.
Whole time he's in the store i was looking for a ride and some place to stay. (I'm Not from the area I did not know what to do)
He comes back so I decided to wait at the store until I get a place.

He leaves me there...

Two hours i find a place. He comes to me I was going to be honest with my dude but the person who had helped told me to not drag him into it and told me to say I was in a shelter for women.
Going against the grain I didn't want to upset the person helping me out and it was cold. I told him that.

The person who had helped me ma added to the state going on by kissing me*. I told him that I was flattered but if I could make sure that the mess to my relationship was supposed to be staying with him than I am sorry about the fault in giving a idea of what the situation is.
I held my tongue and didn't tell; I told him that The person who had helped me kissed me. All the way honest besides telling him where I was.
by the way dude who kissed me told him everything.
Was I wrong for My lie?
Is it's wrong for me to protect someone I know over the love of my life...

Can the results of the situation be justified in my case
