I am an upcoming senior in high school, and my family (Mom, fiance, sister) is being relocated to Georgia (Army stuff), meaning in the next 30 days will have to pack all of their things. This is hard because that would mean that if I were to go with them, I'd have to start all over. If I stay here, I'll have to continue to stay with my grandmother, but alone.
The two of us don't have the "best relationship", and she's known throughout the family for being extremely rude and defensive about everyrhing. I lived with her all throughout Junior year, but haven't been alone with her due to my Uncle living with us until recently. Id imagine that we would just keep our distance as we usually do. Whenever things at my grandmothers house gets "crazy" I at least have my family to go and vent to, since they lived only about half an hour away. Now that they are leaving, and I'd have to deal with it by myself. And she's not a danger or anything, just very bipolar and volatile at times, which gets annoying.
The reason why staying is a big deal, is because throughout these 3 years I have slowly started to build all of these connections with people who have all helped me get "further" in school and in work (ex: the person in charge of diversity at my school put me on a $300 college tour for free, and said if I stick by him he'll give me more opportunities like that, such as a chance to win a scholarship. My teachers know me well enough to write me a letter of reccomendation, and a family friend of mine who works for this employment program easily sets me up with jobs of my choice).
If I go to Georgia, all of that would be thrown away, and I'd have to start my senior year with nothing. But my direct family is there.
Some members of my family are saying to just try and get through these few months, and not to disregard everything I've worked towards. Other are saying its not worth it, as Senior year will mean nothing to me in the long run.

She never really dealt with me and my sister dating growing up because she felt like our school district on the outskirts of philadelphia was terrible so she sent us to bumblefuck for school for us to be total outcast and what not. Now that she is dealing with the dating part she's getting jealous and is even trying to set me up with a girl she likes vs the one i'm seeing. I remember when I was in the air force she would just look at me and cry until I shipped off for basic and "forgot" to make my last credit card payment so i'd have to get a cosign from my parents to get any kind of loan.

She has always wanted the family close by and I think she fears that will happen with me. So what should I do?

"The current 18-25 yr old are much more interesting. this is a) the first generation that grew up with "tinder" to hit 30, and b) the first generation that SAW the people 10+ year older fail with their "career women" path.

so what will their take be? From my observations i think most of them are actively pursuing a hedonistic lifestyle, where they just study and sleep around with men who come from well off families, move to a big city to look for rich guys, take a corporate job and then try to magically end up with a big bucks guy so they can be a stay at home mom. I see far and very little women of this generation with career ambitions"

"Yep. This is what I've seen as well for this generation. Funny thing is it will probably work. When I went to Yale as a grad student I met a lot of girls with this exact strategy. One girl was so gold digger it knocked me off my legs. It was so painfully obvious. And she constantly had cravings to cheat. She would have cheated with me but I didn't want the drama.


Even one of the best female students in class when I asked her if she married rich would she work she said no. Its painfully obvious this is what they are going for. This is also why girls overwhelmingly want to go to rich schools. By going their they increase the chances of finding a rich guy to get with."

"I know a girl exactly like this too. Went to a good university, went into investment banking and two years later got pregnant twice to a managing director, and is now a stay at home mom.


She was pretty, and she knew what she was doing. Can't fault it really."

Do you think the majority of women are just going into good schools and high profession careers so they can position themselves to a rich guy and set themselves up to be stay at home mothers?
