I wrote this for a girl I liked for Valentine's Day this year, she loves poetry and I'd never done it before, so I tried for her. She loved it, and now I want to get other opinions.

roses are red, violets are blue

I know you like poetry, but to me its new

I've never wrote one before, so my mind may say boo

but I wanted to try it, just for you

we're young and stable, though we may take our blows

but at least we're still kicking and breathing, unlike Shakespeare or Poe

when it comes to those I encounter daily, describing them can be a difficult art

but with you 3 words come to mind, kind and pretty and smart

I try to go on through the days, though they’re not always so bright

but when you come about, it becomes a delight

my heart feels warm and breezy, like a day at the beach

we could walk and talk on it, like Mario and Peach

life can be like a race, with obstacles so crazy

just don't turn it into a chase, like Sonic and Amy

in all my days, I have met many

and though they've all come and gone, none of them compare to Bethany
