I see this becoming a trend more and more in Hollywood and what not, and the new Suicide Squad movie coming out in 2016 takes it to the extreme. Asylum even has a movie called "Mercenaries" about the same trope. But is it total BS?

I'm planning to write a book as a follow-up to one I'm currently working on. This sequel shifts focus from the girl with the centipede costume, to her sister, who is a skilled hacker. The hacker (Miriam Flippo) winds up doing time on an unrelated charge (helping the Purge-Flare escape), but is then recruited because of her skills - to take down a band of cyber anarchists that used to be her friends.

From there, it plays out like SatAM Sonic meets The Matrix meets Olympus Has Fallen, cutting back and forth between Miriam in her makeshift lab while in prison and the world inside her head as she interprets the events that unfold while trying to foil the terrorists. (Where she envisions her avatar as a badger and the others as various other furries.) Every event in her head has a corresponding "real-world" consequence that affects some mainframe. (FigTurtle taking out the Cebondi causes a DDOS attack on the Pentagon, for example.)

How realistic would it be that any of you would be given a "special offer," such as black ops, whether to reduce a sentence or just to stave off boredom? In WWII, the OSS did this sort of thing frequently. Does this still happen a lot today, or is the trope complete horse-hockey?

Those of you who were incarcerated and are willing to talk about it, I'd appreciate the feedback. It helps talking to someone who actually knows something.

I know men do still rarely get this, but how common is it really for women?
