A couple months ago, I went to the dentist to get one of my teeth worked on. The rest need work too (fillings, two root canals, and one crown), and the dentist asked us what we would be able to pay for. We're not insured, nor rich, so my mom said she had about $1000 to spend.

We went back today for a couple fillings, and the total for THAT alone came to $700! It was a plan to stretch everything out over a long period of time, so that requires a lot of visits with smaller expenses. How do fillings come out to be $700? They printed up a total estimate of everything (the root canals, crown, etc), and it was nearly $5,000! That does not include everything else we have already paid for.

My mom cried. We don't have that kind of money. We said $1000 at the start.

I like this guy well enough, but I feel like there's not much chemistry outside of in bed. After the first three or four dates, conversation has been scarce. It's hard to really talk to him. We've been dating for a couple months, and there's pleasantries and small talk, but he's so quiet and I feel like it's always up to me to keep things from getting awkward. It's like pulling teeth sometimes.

We'll do fun things, bowling, ice skating, chilling at a bar playing pool, hiking, and yet I hate to say it, but he's not very playful, exciting, or fun. Very little sense of humor, he's almost always serious. He leaves most things up to me to decide. It's like there's not much emotion in him, or he doesn't care, I don't know.

He did ask about us though, which surprised me. I thought for a while it wasn't going anywhere. He wants to get more serious though, as in be a couple. Given all of this though, I don't know if we'd be good together. Should I give it a chance anyway? Maybe we'll figure it out and he'll open up more later? I just want a connection and it's not there right now, and I'm worried it won't ever be.

The pluses are he's a good guy, really attractive, the sex is good, he's a gentleman, he listens, and he does make time for me.
