Okay, before you go "WTF?", let me explain.
Many men don't understand the point of abortion rights. Similarly, many women don't seem to get the struggles men have. To this end, I propose "The Male's Abortion".

Laws against abortion are arguably unjust. A pregnancy is draining on a woman, enslaves her body to a fetus, an undesired child results in higher rates of criminals (as their parents are less likely to care about raising them right), and it often ruins a person still trying to get their life together. And outlawing abortion means the woman is enslaved to a single moment, conception, not allowed to change her mind when there is more time to think about things and it's not the heat of the moment.

Now enter guys... A pregnancy can be draining on them financially, and enslaves his income to a fetus, an undesired child results in higher rates of criminals (as their parents are less likely to care about raising them right), and it often ruins a person still trying to get their life together. And forcing a potential father into lifelong child payments or into an undesired relationship means the man is enslaved to a single moment, conception, not allowed to change his mind when there is more time to think about things and it's not the heat of the moment.

So I propose the male abortion (or for the sake of gender equality, a lesbian woman should be allowed to do it as well). It happens after conception, and before a child is born. He can pay the woman the state's average cost for an abortion. If he does so, he has no parental responsibilities, and will not have to make childcare payments if she chooses to go through with it... after all, continuing to go through with it when she had the money in hand to change that, and he had already expressed his desire to not have it is her choice.

And we tie the legality of male abortion to the legality of female abortion. If women get it, men get it too. If women can't have it, men can't have it either.

Let me start off saying I'm pro-choice. I don't think others should have any influence over another person's body. Having a child is a huge responsibility that many women aren't prepared to undertake. The final decision on whether or not a woman has an abortion should be hers and hers alone.

However, I don't think it's fair to force men to do exactly what we're trying to avoid doing with women. Just as men shouldn't be able to force women to undertake such a massive and life-changing opportunity, women should not be able to do the same to men. Financial abortion would allow men to opt out of any responsibility towards the child before he/she is born.

To those who are disapprovingly shaking their heads saying "Men do have a choice, they can wrap up or just not have sex" or other similar responses first ask yourself whether it'd be appropriate to say the same to women regarding abortion; is it fair to ban abortion and then say "Women do have a choice, they can either take the pill or keep their leg's closed"?

Another common response is "It's not equal because the child is alive, it needs to be supported". One way of looking at this is thinking of the unwilling father as a sperm donor, is it fair to insist that sperm donors pay support even though the mother took full responsibility in birthing the child knowing the father is unwilling? This situation is no different. If a woman wishes to become a mother it's not fair to push responsibility on the father just as it's not fair vice-versa.

There would be criteria that would have to be met before a man could financially abort. These include but are not limited to:

-Only being able to financially abort in the same time frame a woman can abort so she can make a decision knowing if the child will be supported.

-If she were to abort, the man would be required to pay half the cost of the abortion.

Or the courts (yeah blame the funding courts, easy way out)

So I had a debate with two dead beats

One told me : "unless I grow a human in me and push it out only then will I be a father and have parental rights nor responsibility "

The othere dead beat as shore told me: "me depositing supermarket should not me rights nor parental responsibility "

I occasionally hear a young person make the statement that they always want to be their child's best friend. It makes me think that this parent either has no idea about what they should be doing as a parent, or they are so starved for social interaction that they are willing to forego their parental responsibilities to gain another "friend." However, that is just my perspective, and maybe there are good reasons why a person would want to be their child's best friend. What do you think?
