I have struggled with acne since I was quite young, and have tried just about every face wash out there (besides the really expensive ones... like Skin ID). I kind of think my acne is hormonal, but I don't know how to tell. My skin care routine feels ridiculous and over-the-top compared to the people I know, and I've had less acne than I used to as a kid but I still have problems. Not severe, not even really moderate acne I guess, but I want completely clear skin like everyone else.

I've been considering / trying to stick with a grain-free and dairy-free diet as both have been suggested to be acne culprits, but it's not going so well. I generally eat healthy, but my meals often include all food groups. I can't go more than about a week without breaking this diet. When I visit family, all of the meals include a grain of some sort, or cheese. I know I can cut down, but I don't think I can cut out.

I'm not even totally convinced diet has much to do with it. I've been wanting to get on birth control or Accutane. I know everyone's different, but I want to hear some success stories. What do you do to keep your skin clear? I'm at my wit's end, wasting money on products that don't make a difference. What do you suggest?
