I have been married and I am now divorced. I have some anger towards my ex because she gave up as soon as we encountered problems, rather than staying and working to find solutions. I do not blame the institution of marriage but I know that many divorced people do.

What is this institution and how did it fail? It is an agreement between two people to live together with the promise of faithfulness and the commitment to always work to keep the marriage alive and growing stronger. If that is a failed institution, tell me what about "marriage" has failed.

Marriages fail because people make bad choices about who to marry and they don't respect their promises to be faithful and to keep working on the marriage. I understand that everyone does not want the long term commitment; that's fine. . . but why would you get married if you don't want commitment?

What do you think about marriage?

I often look at the state of the world today, and the way things seem to be going can be discouraging. People are becoming more and more entrenched in their views, more prone to anger towards those with different beliefs, and everyone seems to be arguing constantly. What happened to the days when two opposing sides could sit down and talk to each other about the problem? Anyways, this line of thinking often has me feeling like a man out of time. Does anyone else ever long for a time when people wouldn’t scream ignorantly at each other while the world fell apart around them?

Suppose something unfortunate happened. No big deal. then she blames you for it, accuses you for the insignificant incident and disregards your reasoning, that it's no ones fault or your offering to correct the situation while you still can.

she made you mad or angered or whatever: You realize she isn't going for a "it's ok. We'll do this and all will be well. No need to get upset about it. Come here for a hug 🤗." kind of thing. You do not want to escalate the conflict any further but she is currently in a state, where she looks to win the argument against you, so you would take the blame. you decide, that this isn't going to happen so you just stop speaking to her in order to cool off and to not say or do anything you would likely regret. At least for a good while (some hours long on average).

you as a good boyfriend and the big lover of your girlfriend don't think it's worth starting a fight over it. You are a problem solver, not a problem creator.

is that an acceptable thing to do?
or are you one of those, who love to feed on drama, fights, cortisol and high stress levels in life? Because those aren't on my diet whitelist.
