I am planning on restoring this antique leather top end table that I found nearby for my girlfriend, this will be her Christmas present, she loves things like this. I am going to retain all the wood and then replace all of the leather. Here is a picture of the end table in its current condition,

I am trying to figure out when I replace the leather, whether I should add this lighter brown leather on top and keep the stain similar to what it is right now or should I add a red color leather to the top and stain the table a dark brown color.
