I know the word 'independent' scares people but all it means is that someone can take care of themselves without depending on another person, that's all. So essentially a woman can get a good job and pay her own bills, take care of her own health, tend to her own needs without needing a man to do it. They aren't necessarily career driven, but they don't need a man to survive and do well in the world.

And by 'educated', I mean someone who is in tune with the world and what's going on from anything between politics to social issues and education. Most likely this type of woman has at least a Bachelor's degree.

But true or false:

An independent educated woman is less desirable to a man because they aren't as easily controlled.

Keep in mind, this isn't saying that a man would not date a woman like this. It just means that his preference would be someone more domesticated.

My friend's boyfriend is a nurse. I'm a middle school teacher. We have this fun bet going over whose profession is the least respected and valued. So far, here's the list we made:

Nurses:
-Higher pay
-Work more hours, but get more days off per week (14 hour shifts but 3-4 days off depending on where you work)
-High patient caseload, often times more than the maximum allowed by state
-Clean up after people
-Must maintain records and communicate with douche baggy doctors
-On call sometimes with less breaks
-Degree is typically more expensive due to cost of books and medical equipment
-Unionized but ignored considering a patient's health comes first to any nurse with a conscious
-Responsible for patient's health even if the patient actively does not follow the orders of nurses and doctors
-Mentally exhausting when attached to patients who may pass away or suffer over a long period of time

Teachers:
-Lower pay and required to work more years before retirement (based on our state)
-Works less hours on the clock but frequently brings home more work than nurses
-Over crowded classrooms
-Yearly evaluations based on student performance on standardized tests and literally nothing else.
-More memes per capita (he added that. I know. Ha. Ha. Ha.)
-Responsible for 30+ human beings at one time
-Summers off and more breaks during the year. Summer breaks are frequently used for professional developments or working a second job.
-Licensure renewal is more expensive.
-Residency license has double the requirements than that of a nurse
-Plan period during the day. Plan period is often taken by administration or parents for meetings or covering classes for teachers who are absent for the day
-Classroom supplies are expected to be bought by the teacher
-Mentally exhausting dealing with disrespectful students and parents who play no role in their child's education
-Blamed for government decisions in education they have no control over


So who has it worse? Nurses or teachers?

I get my Bachelors Degree next year. They say you should aim for a graduate degree to be able to work in more in-depth Psychology fields and a higher income.
However, I am currently seeking entry level jobs in Human Resources and possibly working in a clinic that aims to treat mental ailments. Some say it's a good decision and it is lucrative. Others say the field is limited and you can't really do anything in it at all. Others believe it is reputable only if you seek a graduate degree. What is the truth? Advisors have told me it isn't as bad as others make it out to be when it comes following the graduation with the Bachelors. However, I cannot trust them too much. I feel as if they say that because they are motivating students to continue their education at the University.
