So I have this question that's been bothering me, I was in a serious distant relationship 2 years ago and we lived in different countries and we discussed meeting up in the future but i felt like it wasn't going to happen, and I had this inner conflict whether I should focus on university and my career instead of dedicating too much time in a relationship that might not work, also the 7 hours time difference was a challenge for me, I sometimes get 3 hours sleep, so I decided to break up knowing that's she's having problems with family & school.. Bottom line is, did I make a bad choice by leaving her when she needed me the most or is my drive to succeed more important? Am I a cold hearted selfish bastard?

I can understand a single mom that doesn't have a man to help her; so she no choice, but to work to provide for her kid.

Moreover, but for a married woman to choose her career over spending time and raising her her kid at home when they are young speaks to how selfish and evil that woman is to put her career and money before the health and well being of her kid.

I don't understand how a woman can choose leaving her kid at a day care all day with a stranger basically raising her kid 5 days week.

To me that's child abuse and neglect.

Children need their mother's love, affection, encouragement, teaching and discipline for them to grow up healthy and happy.

A stranger at a day care doesn't give a rip about the kid, only the money you give them to keep a eye on them for 8 to 9 hours.

What are your thoughts? Do you think its child abuse for a mother to leave her kid all day long with a stranger at a day care while the mother chooses her career over her child?
