I'm not a fuck boy but I have bad luck with girls. I've been talking to this girl lately and she claimed her ex was abusive. She was with him for 4 years and we've been talking for 2 months. She told me she wanted to get away from him, yet he keeps stalking her. She got drunk a month ago and he f***** her. At that point I lost my respect for her, but it got me thinking why do I always have this issue? Girls I talk to always end back up with their exes. She claims she been trying to break away from him, but admitted she still has some feelings for him. She told me she just wants to be friends because she doesn't wanna cheat on me. She's cold af to me now and treats me like a stranger. I honestly didn't do a damn thing. If I did, I'd admit it. My last girlfriend got back with her ex too because she said she had feelings still for him. I always seem to attract broken girls with a bad history. This girl I've been talking to claimed she was raped, abused, her family hates her, suicidal, etc... I've found out she is a bad liar though and a lot of this is made up stuff she did for attention. She gets along fine with her family and she was never abused. She wants to get back with someone who abuses her and threatens to kill her as she claims. Do girls just find fuck boys attractive. I'm not necessarily a 'nice guy' because I can be an asshole, but I'm thinking maybe i'd have better luck if I changed myself lmao? Fr. It's rather annoying.

The popular culture/internet relationship 'expertise' is full of advice on how to be independent, and that seems to be reflected in what people believe - that you must be fully independent before you can commit to anyone.

Being in a relationship seems the least popular - who needs the boredom of being continuously connected to one person when you can have all those choices of what to do with yourself (I disagree, just paraphrasing).

Then there is the in-between - you are sort of in a relationship, but you limit your availability - some people seem puzzled at the mere suggestion there is anything more than this (no telling your significant other where you are or what you are up to, no 'giving in' - with the obvious question being who will cheat first)

And then, of course, complete refusal to get involved with anyone because you are told you must be independent - and you stick to a certain loneliness in attempts to master this monk-craft that is being sold as a cure for all ails. Presumably, the benefit of independence is you are allowed all the flirts and flings and hookups - though I am yet to find someone who finds any of it fulfilling (anyone I've ever met with that as a goal was simply lonely)
