My boyfriend is very stressed. With college, work, and a mother that treats him like shit. He is starting to lose his faith in his own abilities and even admitted he does not love himself. He loves me dearly and I love him too and try to remind him how great he is.

So can i love someone who dosent love himself? Should I?

What is that about? Our relationship ended on a really good note. We were both good people who just... didn't quite click. He didn't have the time to get to know me because he was starting a job/school where he'd be busy 85 hrs of the week. He sleeps like 5 hrs every night and never hangs out with friends. He said I deserved someone who has time for me and he said sadly he can't give me time. He said he can't date anyone right now because it's not fair to them.

The relationship basically ended because he didn't think we should have to try at anything... and that it should all be really natural. He's partially right, but he really didn't try much at all. I feel like you have to try a little. He didn't really want to solve any problems we had... I think I texted him too often in hopes we'd have something to talk about... which then made us have nothing to talk about.

We just ran out of things to say. I should have backed off and given him some space. He never opened up to me.

We moved way too fast too. We had all the same values/goals in life and the first two weeks were absolutely magical... but we lost them... and couldn't figure out how to bring them back.

Anyways, I met up with him two months later because he was FINALLY giving me my stuff back. He still has my toothbrush, which I found odd... he said he wasn't sure which was mine, but he lives with one guy and it's pink so it shouldn't be that hard to figure out... IDK. Turns out he threw away some of my stuff... and then RE-BOUGHT it. I thought it was kind of odd. I mean, it's nice, but still a little awkward.

He told me to keep my standards up because I'm awesome and deserve the best. We both agreed that we restored each others' faith in love.. he said I restored his confidence. I asked if he wanted a 2nd try and he said he didn't believe in 2nd chances. I also asked about being friends and he said no, that he believes in clean breaks only. So we said goodbye... and it was sad, but we both agreed that since we met we had never been happier and even apart we were still happy.

2 weeks later he posts this song about how a girl tried to get back together with him and all her persuasions "fell on deaf ears" and that he still loves her but thinks it's too late.

My guy friend said to ignore it because he's just being emo and if he really wanted a 2nd chance he would have gone for it... What's up with the song though? I mean, he said he didn't believe in 2nd chances... is he 2nd guessing himself? Anything I can do to make him want me back? I'd get back together with him, but I'd like to start as friends. We surely weren't friends long enough before we dated. We skipped right into talking about marriage and babies the first weekend we were together... and it was totally mutual! So what's the dealio with this song?
