Growing up I've always wanted to devolve myself in many things increasing my skill set, but I grew up poor and my mother couldn't afford it when I was a child, but now I'm grown up and starting to make something for myself and I'm self employed so I have a lot of free time too. So I'm thinking about turning off the TV and getting my face out of my phone and doing the things I've always wanted to do. Things like getting a black belt in a martial art, learning how to cook, take a first aid class, I might even learn how to ride a horse or get a sailing certificate just for the hell of it, I'm even thinking about participating in charity events every now and then. I can free up time to spend quality time with a partner, I already free up time to spend with my dogs.

I've seen a lot of successful marriages of people from different parts of the globe, almost unaware of where the other person is from and what living like them entails, gradually learning about each other and falling in love in the process.
Although I'm not against marrying in my own community/country/religion etc. but living in a foreign country makes me think.
There are so many people who break up saying 'they're too different' so what if the person you're 'similar' to or rather meant to be with is completely different from you in every aspect of their history but have the all the qualities you were looking for?

So have you ever met someone you didn't want to date cause they knew nothing about your history and culture? Has this been/could be a dealbreaker?
