I've heard a lot of debate on this subject, and would love to hear individual opinions.

As for me, I'm asexual and so it's never been an issue for me to see people in a strictly platonic way. I've had a few close platonic friendships with men over the years, most staying just that (including a current one of 20 years), but one ending when the friend developed feelings and wanted something more, which I unfortunately couldn't give him.

For you, personally, do you find that you usually develop an attraction and cannot keep the friendship platonic, does it happen but only sometimes, or do you very rarely if ever feel any way but platonic about your opposite sex friends? Are you open to making opposite sex friends, or do you mostly avoid it?

In my opinion, this is THE most ridiculous assertion that can be made by anyone. To say you absolutely know more about an entire gender more than they do, (even putting gender aside and saying you know more about anyone) based on some, some time behavior you have witnessed. At most you may come to understand what some men or women you know or have lots of contact with, feel about a particular thing, like knowing that your kid loves pizza, but knowing that, doesn't apply to every kid on the planet---it's just you know the one thing because you are constantly around him/her to witness that. I feel like the, "I know more than you even do about yourself," mentality is what has led to things like laws and conversations that attempt to control women or dismiss men but I'd be interested to see why anyone would think this a valid assertion....

I think everyone has experienced the "nice guy" phenomenon on the internet. A person, usually a guy, who seems frustrated that even though they act nice, they aren't getting sex or a relationship out of it. Feeling entitled to things by basic nice behaviour that is expected of everyone.

My question is, how many of those people do you think are just trolling, because it's entertaining and definitely always gets attention and responses? How many people actually have that mindset and act the same way in real life?

My personal opinion is, that most people are just trolling to get a laugh or just to kill time. It's still a very controversial topic and a "nice guys" whining never goes unanswered.
