For the Girls... How would you act if your boyfriend told you that a friend you consider to be a really good friend was talking mad sh*t about you what would you do? Cut off all contact with her or confront her?

The Long story short

My close friend was dating my boyfriend's best friend for awhile and he broke up with her! And last night I was talking to my boyfriend and I told him I was going shopping with my friend "Jane" and that she may hang out with us Friday Night and He said I don't want to tell you what to do but I think you should know that she talks really bad about you behind your back! And he told me that his best friend of 22 years told him that my friend "Jane" says horrible things about me and told him what she has said! Well he told me and I am so hurt right now by what she has said about me. I consider her a really close friend and I feel so stupid now! But what would you do if you were in this situation? And I know my boyfriend's best friend is telling the truth because I have known him all my life and I can tell when he lies! My boyfriend and his friend both feel bad about telling me but they thought I should know because of how bad some of the things she was/is saying! So please give me some advice I am so confused and hurt by this I know I cannot be her friend anymore but should I confront her about it or just stop talking to her and remove her from my life?
