Should the family be held accountable for the loss of this gravely endangered Gorilla? The Zoo basically can flush 17 years of breeding down the toilet. They were also planning on breeding with Harambe, so now they have to wait another 17 to 18 years to do this. By then the last wild one could already be extinct. Of course I am glad that the kid is alright, but I am also extremely pissed and sad about the avoidable loss of a beautiful creature. There is a petition out there, to have the family criminally persecuted for neglect. I'm not sure how I feel about that though. Personally, I think they should rather cover some of the financial investment the Zoo had to raise Harambe, plus the costs they will have raising the next male. in my opinion, it was an accident yes, but an avoidable one. Yes, small children can disapear in a second, BUT knowing this, parents should be extra careful. Especially if the kid had announced that he wanted to get in there. A small child will not understand a "no honey you can't do that", well, a well raised kid should listen and follow instructions, but unfortunately a kid is a kid. He probably just saw Mowgli and thought he'd say Hi to the Ape. I don't know, but it is no excuse whatsoever. Then the mom came forward, telling the world "my child is fine, thank God" but not one freaking word of "sorry" for the Gorilla. like WTF Lady? Do you feel ANY sort of anything about this other than defending her parenting skills? No wonder people are very pissed. So, what do you guys think?
