Let's say there's a couple that's in a relationship, person A and person B. A emotionally/verbally abuses B all the time - belittling, constantly blaming B for anything wrong in A's life and in the relationship, ignoring, making B feel insecure, shutting down instead of trying to work things out, etc. Eventually B has had enough. they get in a big fight and B can't take it anymore and hits A with a hard plastic water bottle. when B tries to leave, A grabs B around the neck until B complains they can't breathe. A lets B go, but then A does it again, and claims it wasn't actually choking but rather trying to give a hug.

(In case it got confusing, A was emotionally abusive. Then B hit A. Then A choked B. When B accused A of choking, A told B that they were wrong about being choked and they needed to stop lying.)

What do you think, who is more at fault?
