I personally do not actively keep female friends as a straight male unless I am interested in dating them.

Here me out.

Dating is complicated. I’d never want my woman to feel like she’s in the doghouse because one of my old friends made a reappearance or that I found someone more interesting to talk to for any given length of time.

I just don’t want the drama.

Inversely, I do get jealous when I don’t have anything to talk about with my girl that some other guy does. The way I see it as a man, is a guy won’t go out of his way to listen to you if he doesn’t have to, unless he wants to and it’s more often than not because he’s interested in you.

There is only a few things that the attracting sex can offer you that other friends can’t. So I try to make it a habit to date friends as if my woman can be my best friend than what else do I need from other women?

But what’s your opinion on it? Do you actively keep friends of your attracting sex.
