I’ve known this person for almost 2 years now and our friendship hasn’t always been so smooth. We do hangout on a non routine base (sometimes we hangout weekly, sometimes not for a while etc). I’ve seen that he hangout with other people without inviting me for holidays. I have been speaking to him about this during one of the hangouts we had. He rarely calls me or text me, and when I do, he ignores them usually and not calling/text me back most the time. One day he called and have told me how it is unhealthy for him to see all the texts and calls he received that he rarely called back or text back and wanted a break. I have told him that if yhe wants me to leave, I will. He said “no”. He also told me he cares about me and our friendship and that I’m still a friend. I’m not sure if I should keep going or not.

A friend of mine got upset because I called/texted a lot, because they did not reply. That person called me the next day and explained how it is unhealthy for him and that he needed some space. He claimed that he care about our relationship/friendship. I have told him that if he wants me to leave, I will, but he said "no". I am at peace now with this more and more as days go. He claimed that we are still friends, but he got upset when i say that he ignores my call and text, which he never really calls or text me, talking to me. I noticed it is not healthy for me to keep sending texts or calls with no response or text/call back. I am not sure if this is a good sign or not, or if I should leave this friendship, even though he said "no". I do not plan on contacting him unless i hear from him.

I have had close friend who have asked for breaks before, which did not turn out well- I ended them and never talk to them again.
