So I went out with this girl a few times, and things went well on our first few dates. She wasn't exactly the person I was looking for but I really liked her.
She seemed to really like me because she tried to be her best self around me and wouldn't smoke or do anything before or during our date because I didn't like the smell.
After a few months, we went out a third time and she was super excited to get together again, even asking to go to where we first met, then she explained she made a lot of bad choices during that month. She got into two bad relationships and got into drugs and had to go to the hospital. But she got a new job and moved back home. We had a good time, but she said she really wanted to focus on herself and get better, and didn't want to rush in a relationship, but was open to date and stuff until then.
We went to have sex, and she gave me a hard time because she had sex on the regular before we met, and I hadn't had it in 5 years. During which she just kept talking about her old partners and was just psyching me out and after a few minutes I couldn't maintain an errection and she seemed disappointed and I was extremely disappointed with myself. She spent the rest of the time in her phone, but told me as I drove her home I started good and she wasn't gonna hold it against me and we'd get together the next day and she gave me a kiss.
She rescheduled our plans a few times before saying she couldn't keep doing things with me, that she was gonna focus on getting sober and she's had a hard time with that and she hurts people when she's tried in the past. She said I'm a great guy and she wanted things to work. But she said she had a lot of issues to get through, and I tried to convince her I wanted to be there for her and after a little back and forth she blocked me.
I don't understand why? I said I wanted to be there for her

Its night. Its late. Its cold.

He runs to a cab trying to escape the rain. Partially wet, he knocks the window. There is only one seat available at the backseat next to a girl (pretty/not is unnecessary). She slides aside to welcome. He pools with them.

The cab starts to move. He removes his overcoat and wipes himself dry. He leans back and relaxes. He could hear Elvis Presley's 'Are you lonesome tonight' mildly through her earphone as she listens, looking outside the moving cab. He looks at her eyes through the rear-view mirror. Scattering neon lights from each shop in the street blend with the moon light and hit her face as she slowly falls asleep.

The song continues. His watch continues.

The overflowing notes of the song relaxes him like a lullaby. His phone rings and wakes her up. She looks at him looking back. He panics as he picks up the call. She's still looking at him. "Who do you think will win the election: press 1-" He ends the call hearing the recorded voice. He looks at her. She looks away. He looks away too.

'Can't help falling in love'. Elvis Presley again. He looks at the rear-view with a smile. She's already looking at him. His smile fades away in surprise. She smiles. He smiles. They both look away outside the window.

He hums with Presley. She starts humming too.

He looks at her. She has one of her earplugs removed and her hand holds it. She offers him with a smile as she continues humming. He slides closer to her. She slides closer to him. He wears the ear plug and continues to hum.

Humming slowly grows to singing.

They amuse eachother. Funny.

They realise that they both are awkwardly close that they can feel their warm breath hitting their skin. They're lost.

The cab stops with a screech. Blush on their faces. She walks out and pays the cab.

He is on his way to meet his ex to patch up.

Should he get down too?

With everything I read on here... I'm actually really surprised at the responses in regards to trust issues. It's as if you bring up the insecurity, they'll turn into a conversation about their entitlements... telling you that they deserve privacy (which people do), and then paint you out to be insecure (which you are), or maybe even controlling when you just want to feel better.

BUT... with infidelity occurring at an over 50% rate in marriage (according to most studies I've read) , I think it's only right to alleviate your partners anxiety when they are having trust issues. It's okay to be insecure once in a while. It's okay to have trust issues once in a while. In monogamy, attraction will happen outside of your partner. Whether it's a coworker, or platonic friend. These things are bound to happen in a long term relationship, so my suggestion is to be with someone who empathizes with you when these problems come up. Someone who actually wants to help you feel better instead of attacking you for it and making you feel lesser for it.

My girlfriend and I have both experienced some trust issues with each other in the beginning considering we've both been cheated on at one point. I opened up all of my social media with her and gave her the pass-code to my phone. Granted, she didn't even look- but I wanted to let her know I had absolutely nothing to hide... and she doesn't have to worry. I genuinely wanted her to feel more relax and less anxious about the idea of committing into a long-term relationship. She wanted the same. We're both in such a better spot today. We worked through it together, and I feel as if most couples should operate in this way.

It's strange to me that the default solution on GAG to this problem is to demonize your partner and suggest to leave them. Anyone else here feel the same?
