So after having been played in my previous relationships, lied to and cheated on, I feel like I have developed some trust issues. It’s been building up for some time, but the final relationship where I found out he was cheating changed something inside me completely.
I’ve started having these random thoughts pop up in my head like ‘oh that’s a nice shirt my brother is wearing... wonder if he’s about to see a side chic’ or ‘This dude looks hot and seems smart - he must be a good player’. And this happens all the time, whether it’s a stranger or someone I know, (and know they wouldn’t be a cheater, but can’t help but feel like that). In the back of my head I started subconsciously seeing a liar in every guy, thinking that some are just better than others. I even stopped wanting a relationship at all, as I feel that at the end of the day they will just play me and hurt me all over again.
Is this what you call trust issues? And how do I deal with this? People say that I’m still hurting and just need to heal, but I’m not sure, - I’ve been hurt before but I’ve never felt this way before... it’s something completely different. I’m well off so I could afford seeing a psychologist to talk about this - do you think I should? Or would it be unhelpful and do I really just need to wait?

My boyfriend cheated on me around 6 months ago and I still can’t forget about it. In the beginning, he tried to get at me and loved me more than I loved him. The main reason why he cheated was because I wasn’t understanding and caring.
Long story short: He was friends with this girl and let’s call her Katie, she sends him homework and they sit in the same table.
We went on a double date with separate cars. While he was driving this person texted him with no name on it. I saw his messages and everything was in chinese. My boyfriend is chinese and I’m korean like wtf lmao I can’t understand anything. I asked him who is this and he’s like oh it’s Tom. I texted Tom, “are you Katie?” And this person replied “no” I’m like tf I know it’s you. I checked the iMessage picture and this person sent him homework and the name on the paper said “Katie.” He kept saying “it’s not her! you don’t trust me? Tom sent me her hw to me” I’m like bs you guys are friends you can just ask her. He just kept denying and denying and finally admitted later. He started crying and was being so apologetic. I screenshot the convo so I can translate it later and got off the car to go my best friend’s boyfriend car (double date).
Their convo was like talking about her virginity, “I would rather be with you (Katie) than (me)”, how I’m so annoying and talking shit about me. They were talking for like a month and even when we were good together he was still talking to her. One time he realized his mistake and told her, “don’t like me because I can’t give up on (me) but we can still be good friends” and continued to talk to her. they were basically flirting and to me that counts as cheating. He promised that it won’t happen again and that whenever he felt down katie understood him. he just wanted someone to comfort him and got distracted with his life. He stopped talking and avoided her since then and didn’t cheat on me. He did everything to get me back and he told me he loves me so much and just got distracted.
