My ex boyfriend recently contacted me. Our relationship has been off and on between us. He's acting like he wants to be in a relationship again. He says all this nice stuff and how he really likes me still. But i can't trust him. All over twitter and facebook he's talking to other girls, and liking a lot of girls photos with like nothing on. He's a 19 year old boy that goes out partying a lot. So i don't expect for him to be stay loyal. I haven't seen him for about 2 months. We live about 20 min. away from each other. I have no doubt that if a girl came up to him to kiss or whatever, he would. I think he's using me as an ego boost, or he's using me for now until he gets a girlfriend. I do know that he wants to sleep with me. He is always going on about missing me. And how he wants to see me. But he doesn't care, like i do. He like leads me on getting my hopes up saying all this nice stuff and than the next day on twitter or any social media is talking to other girls saying theyre cute, i dont know what i shoukld do at this point. It hurts really bad and im very confused. If he messages me should i ignore him? By the way, im 17 and i dont do any drugs/ drinking/ partying, like my ex does.

I'm a sophomore at a private girls school, and may I just say that high school is an absolute pain the the vagina. I've found that I'm much more mature than the average fifteen year old, and instead of wasting precious time liking pictures of Starbucks frapuccinos on facebook, I like to spend time learning weird things and eating and sleeping and reading. I like to live. Not through social media, through MYSELF.

And I simply can't be myself when it comes to high school hierarchy. Everyone seems to be the same. Everyone is concerned with popularity. Everyone basically discusses boys and sex and how hard the biology homework was. Friendship isn't deep in high school, or at least at mine. I mean, no one I've met at school is actually mean. But most high school girls are extremely judge mental, and they don't seem to accept you for who you are. I'm usually loud and outgoing and funny. But at school I become quiet and awkward. And when I open my mouth for five seconds because I feel like I connect with the topic of conversation, everyone goes "wow you talk a lot". I don't understand it. It bothers me so much.

I just don't like high school. I find that I interact much better, socially, with people I meet outside of school first, for god knows what reason.

This guy does all the staring/gazing stuff for over 10secs, complimented me twice about how polite I was , Talk with me about fav tv shows/general stuff

I know he’s staring at me because there no one else sat near me. Also I look up from my drink and he would be staring at me then I looked down look up 10secs later and he'd still be staring.

Even if he serving someone heating up a cake or talking to a mate he would still be staring and most of the time he has to turn to the right to stare at me.

We're both late teens

He works at my local Starbucks I thought he was just being friendly, but none of his workmates are likes this.

I do like him just not sure if he liked me so never said anything.

He talks/seems confident around other girls/customers but different around me.

But I've notice the past few times I've been he hasn't be staring as much. I'm not sure if his workmates found out/he told them or something about liking me.

I know that he’s single and has been for a few years.

I also know that he’s not a big party/drinking person and likes spending time at home with his family, so don’t think he’s the player type

Then I went to day there was an older lady in her 30-40s in front of me he served her and ask her how her day was she replied and ask him, she had work uniform on so he ask her how work had been, she replied and he then said something to her about the weather
Update : Then I ordered and he didn't say anything to me WHY, the only thing he did was remember that I also had a cup of water with my order so got that for me without me even asking and ask if I had 10cents

Was he waiting for me to start the conversation. I'm not a very confident person I think of all things I could say before I get there. like are you excited about latest episode of so and so/what site do you use to watch it on but then I get up to the counter and just freeze/get the shakes.

Girls are taught from a young age that when a boy bullies you or treats you badly its only because he likes you or has a crush on you.

In middle school, high school, and college girls are told the same thing. "He's in that awkward stage and doesn't know how to express himself". "Boys will be boys", "He's just joking" "He's not serious."

We are taught that when a guy is being mean or bad to us, that We're the ones who are overreacting and its only a mans way of showing affection towards us. Girls are told and taught that they're being uptight or misunderstanding signals.

Then when some women reach adult hood they continue to date men who insult them, bully them, and treat them badly, because society taught us that when guys insult you, and berate you, its because they like you.

I've seen the same advice on given on this site by men and women. I've seen the same men and women tell girls that a guy being abusive, or rude is just a sign that he likes her, but if its an older woman, she's an idiot who should know better.

So what do you all think? Do you think we should tell girls that a boy insulting her, bullying her, and being rude to her is just a sign of affection?

Also why dose the dynamic change into adulthood? When do the insults, bullying, and rude behavior transition from a boy just liking a girl, to a girl enjoying abuse and only liking jerks? Why is it alright for girls to accept it as children/young adults but not women?

Is there a magic age or number when boys stop being jerks? Or is there a magic age or number when girls are supposed to know when insults, bullying, and rude behavior isn't a way a man shows attraction/affection?

Will you teach this to other girls?
