Search Results: two front teeth

Let's say that there is a guy with a lean, toned body and a nice face with bright eyes and a defined jawline. However, his teeth are slightly crooked, the front two have mamelons, and they aren't perfectly white. If it makes any difference, it's not his fault because he doesn't drink soda, and he brushes and uses mouthwash twice a day. They're just naturally the way they are.

Would this be a deal breaker for you? Explain why or why not.

So I had a root canal done. The surgeon put a temporary filling in, front tooth, and told me to get the permanent filling done in 1-3 weeks, no more than 3 weeks. (Apparently if you wait too long the temp filling will start messing up, can let bacteria in your tooth, cause infections, make the root canal fail, etc.)

I went to a dentist--fancy little place in a shopping mall--and this dentist starts urging me to get a crown, saying my tooth could break, or it could turn gray. (they had advertisements on the front windows about getting crowns in one visit, just two hours) I say I'd rather go with the filling. She looks at my x-rays, I tell her I have a follow up with the surgeon to get x-rays in a November and make sure the abcess inside the jaw went away and so I don't need surgery inside the gum

She then tells me she'd rather wait on the filling until my November checkup, because what if the tooth is not savable and I have to have surgery or an implant, and why do an not needed procedure... suddenly acting like a filling is a big deal when she was urging me to get a crown 10 mins earlier. I tell her the surgeon told me to get it done within 3 weeks and she tells me I'm fine, the temp filling will last months, no profacblem.

I call the surgeon and he confirms he doesn't think I should get a crown, and if I wait longer than 3 weeks it's more likely my tooth could get infected and require surgery or worse. So I feel like this dentist might be either incompetent, or hopes the tooth will go bad and I'll have to get a crown. Opinions? Thoughts?

I'm thinking of getting braces. I have pretty crooked teeth with wide gaps inbetween them (I'm missing two of my upper front teeth, hence the gaps). All this can be fixed, but it involves wearing braces for at least three years, getting two implants and at the end of it all, a jaw surgery to bring my lower jaw forward. Also, as a preparation for the surgery, they will first have to create a large overbite on my teeth (the surgery would fix the overbite though).
However, this way I could eventually get rid of my biggest insecurity. I like the idea of being able to smile with my teeth showing and not feel embarassed about it. It would also make my profile look a lot more balanced.
The thing is, I've never been in any kind of romantic relationship in my life (I haven't even kissed a girl yet) and I feel that I may be missing out on something. I'm hoping that maybe I could stand better chances after I'm done with my treatment, but first I would have to spend about three years in braces, with huge gaps between my teeth and an overjet that only keeps getting bigger - not something that would make me very handsome dude. Also, I will be 27 before I'm done with my treatment, which might be a little late to finally start dating.
I'm not sure whether or not to go for it. I can keep my teeth as they are now, they may not look very good but they work mostly fine. I realise that looks aren't everything and I don't want to be the kind of guy who obsessed over his looks, hoping that improving his appearance will suddenly make all his problems go away. Not to mention the risk of possible complications (implants fail sometimes and a jaw surgery is no joke). On the other hand, I believe that change won't come without me taking the initiative and if I don't get my teeth and jaws fixed now, I will probably regret it in five years - just like I now regret not getting it done five years ago already.
