Search Results: too close or too distant

I've been dating my boyfriend for almost two and a half years. Lately he's become more distant and very closed. Like when I text him he always gives one or two word replies. When we're with each other we barely talk. We used to talk all the time. He says the spark is kind of gone. But when I try to talk to him about us he just shuts up and gives monosyllabic replies. I ask him if he wants to break up and he says that it sometimes crosses his mind but he doesn't really want to. It has lately been crossing my mind too, but I love him and really want to make this work. I'm really torn here. Like, I really love him. But I'll admit, not as crazy strong as I used to. I'm always the one that calls or texts him first or initiates the "I love you" and even when he responds to that it sounds hollow and rehearsed. I just don't know what to do anymore.
